Wow - a lot of questions...all at once, we're not used to this!
I am currently getting approx 47-50 mpg (mixed driving) from my 1.4 petrol, is this about right?
- Sounds ok to me but I have a TDi so I'm not the best person to ask.
Is there an Audi audio cassette holder that can be fitted?
- I've never heard of an Audi accessory like this and anything else may look tacky when stuck in the A2 interior. I'd just stick with your glovebox for now.
Can the 1.4 petrol be re-chipped? If so where can I have it done?
- The 1.4 engine can definitely be tweaked. I can't give you all the info now, but there should be some somewhere on the A2OC site (
www.Audi-A2.co.uk) - look in the marketplace section or on ABT or AmD's webpages, and before you commit to anything check what discounts are available as an A2OC member (provided you have joined up!)
I want to upgrade the speakers in my car, it's the 1.4 standard (speakers in the front door only) i want to use the existing locations and possibly put some in the rear doors as well. Any advice?
- You are able to fit non standard (ie non-Audi) speakers in the holes in the back doors. For this you need a speaker adapter kit which is available from companies such as
www.incardiscount.co.uk As far as I know it can be tricky to get the grills off and it is also likely that you will need to run the wires from the head unit to the back doors - so it may be better to let a professional (not necessarily Audi) do the job.
By the way I'm not a DIY person.
- Don't worry, we won't hold it against you!
Could I bolt on a CD player?
- Not sure about bolting anything on, but you certainly can take out your existing Audi stereo and put in a different make of stereo. If you only have a cassette player now, forget about what Audi say about not being able to fit a CD player. They said that about my A2 and offered to charge me £1000 for the priviledge of doing the work! I bought a Kenwood Mask CD player, fitted it myself all for under £300. Again you'll need a harness adapter lead and fascia adapter for the plugs/wiring/fitting and this can again be bought from the site above (
http://www.incardiscount.co.uk/acatalog/Shop_Fitting_Accessories_19.html)
Hope that helps!
Stuart.
