Vcds or vag com for abs

Hi guys, I have read that several scan tools will tell you which wheel speed sensor needs replacing.
I don't think the full vcds does this. But have read that vag com does identify which one is at fault. What I don't want to do is change them all just through guessing. Thanks in advance.

I haven't needed to replace one myself so I don't know if the full fault code is more specific, but you can display the realtime speed reading of each wheel with VCDS. That would identify which one isn't sending the correct speed when driving and let you know which needs replacing.

Your profile says London, where abouts are you as I might be able to help?

regards

Andrew

If you mean vagcom as vag401, then it's a really good DIY device, but vcds on laptop used by mechanics, as it has a lot more features.

Why do you keep suggesting that vag401 is vagcom? Certainly XTool don't, and since the name is wholly owned by Ross-Tech, can't.

I'm a recent convert to VCDS (full version)... if the wheel speed sensor is the same thing as an ABS sensor then I can confirm it directs you to what the fault is and which one is faulty.

VCDS and Vag-Com are one and the same thing. VCDS stands for Vag-Com Diagnostic System.

Since you already have VCDS you'll have no trouble identifying the faulty speed sensor.

Hi Jimmy have a look at the link below, it gives you details on how to cure the G85 fault indicated on your VCDS scan, I remember reading somewhere that if this steering angle isn't calibrated with a 'basic setting' it can trigger the ABS lights. (... maybe someone's had the steering wheel off?)

Let's know how you get on ... Tom

Tom just realised its way over my head. Don't really understand Ross tech either.
