The cost in my opinion was astronomical !!!!!! but was fixed so they could take their time, which was not the case with most dealerships who quoted me for the part but the labour charge was open ended !!

The cost of my repair was £515 including parts and labour.

yes.severe ouch !!!!!!!

but at least its working now.....can test it by wrapping an ice pack aroind the ext temp sensor when engine cold.....thinks its in iceland !!!!!! The heater then fires up !!

On another note though.do you know how to remove the ash tray as the spring has snapped and the light no longer works.....There nust be some hidden screww somewhere that hold the ash tray housing into the central unit.

yes.i have removed the liner.....opened up the tray but cannot see any dome headed screws/bolts......are they hidden under any trim.its a real pain to remove the trim as each clip breaks when your remove trim ( did this with door trims when fitting bose speakers )
 
Moorlander - PM sent. It's tricky but very do-able. If you're near Manchester, I can sort this for you and fix the ashtray, which is only available as a complete unit from Audi, at a cost of £53.
