Over the week-end quite a few friends saw my new car. Most of them liked it, some thought it looked funny, some didn't give it a second look. But what I found interesting were the different features people liked about it and the features I liked which others didn't know about. For example, I like it's aluminium body and frugal yet lively engine, but few friends knew the car was even made out of aluminium or could average 65mpg. Audi's advertising must be very poor if people don't know what material it's made from! Also most people loved the duel space boot, which is something that I had never even thought about.

So I'm just wondering what features do people really like about their cars? Is it really the the cup holders and vanity mirrors, which I imagine you get more of in a Citroen Picasso or is the technology features?

Ive been told that my car looks like it has Down Syndrome... hmph.

I think it has a timeless look about it. Especially if they dont create a replacement! I wish i had the TDI 90 but they were too expensive second hand at the time i bought my 1.6FSI, which is a little bit quirky in the lower revs.

climate control, scratched front offside alloy, tape player.

Yes, they were very interesting. Amasing to read how nearly all owners feel the same about their cars. Love the cars despite the nagging faults :) I kind of wished I bought the car in dolphin grey rather than cobalt blue, as after only a 1 week the car looks filthy. But is does look great when clean.

Hehehe... Dolphin Grey is in my opinion as difficult to keep clean... best is silver or like mine in Crystal Blue. Weeks go by before it ever looks dirty. And then you only notice the brake dust on the wheels or dirt on the Open Sky... I had a dark blue car before this one so learnt my lesson then.

There is one more advantage to a light coloured car: the base coat on all cars are white. Thus if you get a scratch on your dark car it shows very clearly as a white line... whereas on silver or my crystal blue you don't see it all. When we went to the factory the silver cars did not even have protection over the paintwork as all the other colours did... they said it is because it is a "miracle" colour!

Here, here! A future classic.
Mine is also Crystal Blue Metallic, and stays clean for weeks. Seems to have been a good choice, in hindsight!
I like it coz it looks so cooooooooool!!!!!! (Especially brings a smile to my face when walking up to it in the Sainsburys car park - which I understand is the same for you, Johann). [8D]

Ezza.

Sept 2001 registered A2 1.4 SE in Crystal Blue metallic, Open Sky Roof, Climate, 'Symphony' 6 CD radio & tape, Bose sound system, curtain airbags.
