window problems

Thanks guys, for both your replies. Am off work next week so will get it all open and have a look. I manage to find one (motor reg), guy at the breakers says he will charge £100 supplied and fit. tell me am i getting bumped or is that a fair price.

Make sure of what you are getting, swapping the motor is easy, fitting a replacement regulator is a much more tricky job and to be honest, £100 doesn't seem far off to me!
If you allow £50 or so for the s/h parts and an hour of labour, that would be about right IMHO.

Thanks Steve. I manage to open it's up today. The motor is working fine. But when i had taken it off the metal wire had come off the plastic window gog ( looked a little fray) I managed to put it back on, checked if window had come off runner but all looked good, replace all the pannel and tested. Window comes down with a crunching struggle only half way but will not close just makes a crunching sound but won't go up. Am I right to say motor is ok. What parts will I need with my bad attempt to explain the problem. Thank

It sounds like the motor is not the problem.

You need the rest of the mechanism, best to try a breaker's or perhaps a member on here has a spare door that could provide the parts?
