Your A2 plans for 2024

340,000 miles service is due in couple of weeks along with a cambelt change.

Sort the sagging headlining

Repaint the O/S/R wheel arch where the paint has strangely gone dull in one place

Finally wire in the heated seats

Get the webasto working once the circuit board comes back from repair

MOT in February

That will do for now.

I'm looking forward to seeing the foglights after a @timmus remap - should look like the Bell Rock Lighthouse! ;)

In the 'old' days it used to be said that when a car got to 60k that's when all the problems start. So do I now put it in an air controlled tent and look at it longingly or.....
Happy 2024 all

My plan is to sell 3. One has just gone over 200,000 miles. Sorry. Had enough of spending all the time

Immediate plans are
Jelly... to pimp the rear indicators. Have a plan and parts ordered so fingers crossed. Also to fit then wire the Mirror Casings with scrolling indicators.
Hmmm bit of an obsession with indicators I feel!
Smurf... to get the full interior pimped, re-cover the headlining and doorcards, and get the dash swapped to double din. Fit the A5 seats, full electrics and heating. Re-spray the front bumper, then laquer it, and the rear bumper, together with a Votex kit, and fit.
Pimp the Rear Lights and Mirror Casings as per Jelly. Maybe a modified exhaust, but that's not essential.

I need to extract my digit and crack on in the new year!

Oh, and got ideas for the front headlights too!

I hope to make it into the 200k club, probably towards the end of the year.

Before then I think I'll have to do the N/S CV joint, as it looks like I've got some grease coming from a small split in the boot. I'm not looking forward to trying to get the driveshaft out of the hub.....

Otherwise it's been running well, although my wife caned the economy on a trip to Scotland in Gerrit (but it did get her safely there and back!)

A slightly early happy new year to you all!

I normally start one of these threads each year, simply because i'm nosey.

What are your A2 plans for 2024? Use, maintain, preserve, modify, make it into the 200K club?

My plan is simply to get the business back on track, i've drifted off for the last 6 weeks or so and had little motivation with everything else going on, but hoping to get things up and running properly again for 2024.

Lets hear your plans?
I am trying to get hold of black leather seats to my A2, 1.4 from 2002. Any idea where to find them?

I am very satisfied with my car. An elderly lady had
It previously and it works perfect.

Tackle the lurking problems so my A2 continues to be a reliable daily runner.
Build a good AMF engine, perhaps one out of two and instal
Fit a new front panel (current one rust perforated)
Probably new drive shafts (they have 180k miles on them)
Investigate sluggish wiper motor. May need a new one, may just be the earth.
Take a look at the gear selector cables, there must be something preventable that I can do to them.

Plans for 2024? Just to keep it going, hopefully without anything major (ie expensive) to be done on it !
Thanks to all for your help over the past 12 months, and a happy New Year to all.
Trevor

Gah - just tried to start the A2 after a couple of weeks tucked away in the garage and the battery needed to be boosted! There’s another job then.

I‘ve had a similarly challenging year like you Steve and so A2 plans got put on the back burner really so I am carrying these over to 2024.

Fix the loose heat shield I have just found whilst fitting new jacking point adapters
MOT due at end of Jan so Cataclean in just before that
Collect and start work on refurbing a rear axle kindly being held for me by @Ami
Fit the wiring loom I made up for the lumbar on my upgraded seats
Make up and fit looms for the seat heating and fit the new climate unit beautifully restored by @jp.oog
Finally fit the new front struts I have had waiting in the wings for 18 months now

Thanks to all for help and advice over the last year and Happy 2024 to all

Best wishes

J
