After much deliberating this is the tyre setup iv went for - I think I managed to secure a bargain too - just need my fit and balance when they arrive. Anyone used these tyres ?

Andy that is very very good tyre, I rate it same high as Michelin and Conti. But it works brilliant on bigger high performance road cars offering great breaking and lateral grip levels... and it's long lasting too.... I wonder what your experience is gonna be on the a2... keep us updated on it. Where you've find it is as cheap as it gets , by the way...

I went for a Falken tyre as I wasn't sure I'd be keeping the 17" setup. They have been good but a little noisy. I've heard Dunlop Sports are extremely good.

Falkens do make a good impression like most of Japanese tires but only in the showroom... I've never seen any good tire made by Falken... they don't offer top grip, rubbish in wet and weare out in no time... thread seams to be shallower than other brands...
Dunlop is good if you don't take your car to the limit... of a tire ...
I've had bad near death experience on my bike and performance car as well... so I wouldn't recommend if you like a hard ride, otherwise fairly good...

I can't say I've had any grip issues or rapid wear either. They are only on the car 6 months a year as I have winter wheels available. As I said they are not a bad starting point as I was unsure about going the 17" route with 40 profile tyres so did not want to spend too much at first.
I've always favoured Pirelli tyres but a few club members rave about the Dunlops.

I have Dunlop sportmax James, terrific tyre in my opinion, not cheap but I've had no issues at all, very quiet too!
May go for these again on my refurbed rims!
Cheers Jeff

Stunning car; I love it more and more each time I see a picture of it.

Not a bad set of 'winter' alloys to have - great looks and style; a lovely first set too.

I have 7,5x17 with ET35 and 215/40-17 tires.
The rims are bad, but tyres are good.

I now have complete set of 8x17 with ET35 on my hand.
Will it be ok to increase the width from 7,5 to 8?

I can't guarantee it but it should be ok. Wider ones have been fitted but have some small rubbing issues. But I would imagine that 45et with 8j would fit ok. Using 215 40 17 tyres. I assume you meant using the tyres you have? They might look a tiny bit stretched but 215 tyres are 8.5 " wide anyway, so you should be ok.
