18" alloys

There is a thread on here somewhere.

The part you are referring to is part of the dashboard unit so to get that specific part you would need the whole dashboard. If you have a single DIN dash they are relatively cheap to get hold of.

Great. My 18" a8 alloys are the wrong pcd. 5x112. ******. Hub adapters or will they stick out to far?
The hub adapters i have seen are 20mm and you don't have room for even 5 mm with these wherls i suspect (unless anyone knows different). I don't know the width of your wheels but mine are 8" wide and just about touch on both edges when 4 up.

For at - drilling bolt holes

If the stitch ( bolt hole distance ) does not correspond to the hub on which the wheel rim is to be mounted ,

the rim can sometimes be side- drilled. ( there then bolt holes between the bolt holes at )

This is only possible if there is no space between the bolt holes (inner rim)

so the mounting flange must be completely closed.

Some modern rims this factory already done , these are then " multi - pitch" rims.

The omboren of steel wheels is not possible , a steel rim has a bolt hole which is pushed out ,

because the risk of the bolts / rims else " loosening "

That doesn't sound good. Made me think about the recent over torqued bolts nightmare. What's wobbling?

Just a quick question. 18s on the A2. Does it effect fuel consumption much and as I would need 35 profile on a already hard ride, would it make it too hard?

Hi,

Additional vehicle weight will increase fuel consumption so it all depends on how heavy the 18",s are. Some 18" are lighter than the standard 16" se wheels so may improve fuel economy. Ride harshness has been discussed may times and its a controversial topic - one persons perception of a hard ride will be different to another. Its really down to your personal preferences or if you are approaching middle age and suffering from sciatica.

Hahaha! Awesome answer. Yes, my teeth feel like they're going to fall out on certain pot holes. Yes I'm 40 but no to sciatica. Just a moaning woman at home. Nothing a session with a wood chipper wouldn't sort.

It has not had any measurable effect on MPG. Why would it?
The weight of my 18s is less than the 17s I had on. And it would have to be a significant weight increase to do that anyway.
I find the ride absolutely fine. I don't even notice them.

It is always a case of personal perception.

But my feelings on large diameter wheels are well known on here.
I REALLY like them. I like the look and I like the positive effect on steering response and reduction of roll when cornering.
Mine are 215 35 18s and that is a perfect size.

Don't get me started on tenting and caravans. Hate them. Always will. My folks getaway place. Poxy van things.

By the way, I have experimented with several sets of tyres on these 18" wheels and I am VERY impressed with the latest set.
They are 215/35R18 84Y VREDESTEIN ULS XL. I went for them mainly because they are rated as very quiet.

But the comfort improvement is noticeable, they must be slightly more compliant than the previous tyres and they are very quiet too.

I got them from my friendly tyre guy at just a fraction over £100 each fitted.
