At last, after 6 years, I have an A2!!

Wow you did well there lol i would have pushed for a mac dee's aswell for your trouble well done mate ...

I think I would have done that -considering you've just had £2000s worth of repair work done on the roof for free!

No, I thought I'd leave it as it's not a priority and they wanted £50 just to plug in and check the fault codes!

Well, I don't feel a tightwad as I asked them to do a quick all round check (£20) and replace the worn out wiper arm and blade (£152).....

Fair enough, and with it getting colder now you'll not likely need the aircon much in the next few months anyway!

Update time. Since the last post, I've upgraded the suspension to Monroe Reflex flavour all round. It feels very smooth now with the standard crashy A2 ride an already distant memory. Handling is much better too as it holds tight corners with very little body roll and it generally feels much more assured.

I also now have a new windscreen, and today I got the car back from my local friendly bodyshop who have fitted a new Votex bodykit and resprayed the whole car. Well pleased with the result, although it's highlighted a few tired area's still to be renewed such as foglamps, wheels, number plates and the aluminium (?) strip that sits at the top of the rear bumper.

I've got all the climate parts I need now to restore that to working order (condensor, drier, one of the hoses, the switch relay/heatsink) so fitting all that lot followed by a regas is the next job. After that it will be an engine oil service followed by the new foglamps, number plates and LED sidelights as the cheap and nasty Chinese ones I bought didn't last five minutes.

Anyway, here she is- slowly coming back to her former glory :)

That looks great:) you should be well pleased with that result. It's nice that your car has found a good home with some who has a real passion for it.

Cheers

Hi all, exterior finished! Got a set of genuine Audi accessory split rims. Some people think they're a bit bling, but I like them, they're new with new tyres and I got the set of four for £275 so I'm well pleased

I've also fitted new number plates, a new nearside front foglamp and some s-line badges. I might rechrome the bootlip strip at some point later but to all intents and purposes the outside is finished.

Now on to the interior, new or refurbished Sport or TT flat bottomed steering wheel, new window switches and surrounds and a new handbrake button are next on the list...

Anyway, here's some final exterior pics:

They look good - suit the body kit well!

And the first 2 words that occurred to me were..............

Kerb magnets! ;)

Indeed. I now park at least a foot away from the kerb for that reason! They will ultimately be scraped at some point, but for the money I paid for them I won't lose too much sleep :)

Thanks, I'm pleased with them but the only downer was having to drive to just north of Newcastle to get them. Still, I got 63mpg on the round trip so it wasn't too bad a day out.

The guy selling them had bought them new for a vw Transporter van and the pcd was different so they didn't fit. He'd had them on ebay for ages and almost couldn't give them away.

Stoke Audi have some at £221 each just for the rim.....

The car looks just great! I have done an identical colour integration to my A2 ... (also with the Votex kit). The only thing missing from your A2 is that Votex rear spoiler .... a rare item, indeed! Also, chrome edging around the lower front grill and number plates looks very classy! The TV facility with the RNS-E is fascinating (and Bose) What do you know about it?

David

i love the QT alloys--i have a set on my castle red fsi and vonnie has a set on her white tdi. There are quite a few members that took up the incredable deal from audi on these wheels. tony hotstuff has some along with maddy(robins wife). The only fault i can find with these is they are very heavy 12kg+ without a tyre! when i swap to winter 15's i can feel the difference in braking and acceleration. Your car looks fab with the body kit - why not show it off at ADI show at castle combe in oct?

cheers mike

Thanks David. Yes, I'd love to get my grubby mitts on the elusive Votex rear spoiler. Not holding my breath on that one.

The RNS is the D flavour. The TV worked fantastically well until they turned off the analogue signal a few months back. No more TV since :(. However, it is possible to retrofit Digital Freeview for a reasonable cost. Bit of a wiring job but nothing too difficult. Not a priority at the moment so it'll go on the 'nice to do' jobs list.

The navigation is the original 2001 flavour i.e. it's archaic. It works by address only so no easy postcode entry. My only question on this is whether I can upgrade it with a later navigation disc?

The Bose is wonderful. A really rich sound with very good bass and treble.

What has saved this car from the breakers (remember it's got 180k on the clock) is the high spec from new. If it had been bog standard I wouldn't have given it a second glance. Including buying it in the first place it owes me about £4200, which I'm happy with. A few hundred still to spend on the interior and fixing the climate though....

Cheers Mike, if I can get the day off (I work every weekend) I'll go. Anyone else going?
