Driver side central locking and window issue

Just lift the "Driver's side" carpet (on a LHD car)
Under there is an aluminium panel, twist the three black catches (if they are all still there that is)

Lift the panel off and right on top is a black plastic control box. It starts with an 8Z (meaning it is an A2 part) and it is the alpha character/s at the end that is important, it may be a "Q", or an "F" or an "AF" (there are others)

That is the number you need.

Hi steve

checked it out(easier than anticipated) - the CCCU part number I have is 8Z0 959 433 N.
A2 Steve has an 8ZO 959 433 F + one key on the one hes breaking for £35 and maybe another one.

Do you think that part number will work in mine - as you said Id be no worse off and the remote on one of my keys now has never worked.
In the absence of a diagnosis and fact I can hear the CCCU clicking away (like a relay stuck) when its try to come back to normal Im thinking it should be worth buying it off him and worse case Im 35 quid out of pocket. what do think ?

thanks again.

Jon

Since steve is also providing a key then it is a straight swap. Just swap the remote part of the key on to yours and it should even work straight away.

But it a great price fir that and well worth it.

You can let us know on here if you have any problems swapping.

The cccu is just held in with two clips at the left of the unit. (They are on the side pointing to the front of the car. ).
Just press them in at the bottom towards the front of the car and the cccu lifts out. It is easier to unplug when out anyway.
Just press in the little clip on each plug.

Hi John. Just catching up on this thread. I'm away on holidays next week but if you were able to get the payment across to me today then I could get it booked in for collection tomorrow while i'm still home and then out to you by midweek next week. If you are not in a rush for it though I can just hold it for you until I get back?

Would be great if you could do it tomorrow Steve and The quickest and easiest way I can get you the cash is by bank transfer from my uk Halifax account. I can send you the screen shot of the money being transferred if that's enough for you. Im keen to pick it up next week when in UK so as long as it arrives latest Thursday im good to bring it back with me
Can I call you or PM you to exchange the details. Also left you my phone number and email on the other thread.

Steve B - thanks again for your great help. Probably seems like small stuff to you guys but it was driving me nuts and I was considering to get rid of a great little car. If I can resolve this think Ill invest a little love into it and keep it for the long term. My wife loves it too but wont drive cos of the few niggles its got. Next effort will be the motor warning and ESP light intermittently coming on. Step by step.

Hey guys. Just thought I'd report back with a big thank you and tell you changed the Cccu with the one received from A2 Steve and fixed the problem. Went half a year annoyed with this one before joining the forum and receiving your help. Thanks a million ! Final question, as I got a new key with the Cccu are the ones matched to my old Cccu now useless or can the y be reprogrammed? Thanks guys. Br Jon

They can be reprogrammed (assuming you have replaced the unit with the same part number).

The keys are in two parts. One half has the key blade in it and they will still be ok to use, the remote operation of the central locking just needs someone with the right cable and software (VCDS) to reprogram them to match the CCCU

Thanks Steve. Yeah matched the fob and key blade up but the Cccu was a different part number. No matter, was just a nice to have. One full functioning key and doors and windows that open is plenty for now. Ill worry about a second remote when I got few other bits fixed. Thanks again. Jon
