Ok. Update. This is a weird one..
Dropped into my trusted mechanic to see if he could sort out the blower fan, and again, it worked when powered directly.
He had a gadget that could "inject" power when the fan was plugged in, though, and the
controls fired into life!
Turned the engine off/on, and controls dead again. Started looking at resistors and more to the point, how to fit them (pain, £££).
I then restarted the engine and pressed the fan buttons, and they worked. It's been restarted a LOT of times since then, and they still work. Just need to refit the glovebox now.
Total cost £10..
