Footwell heating AWOL

Well, tried the flicking the setting to feet, face, screen business and low and behold it's working again. T

The groaning sound has gone as well.

There is no cooling, but I will investigate this once the other jobs are out the way. Also the radiator fan didn't spin when climate was on, but the engine was cold if this makes a difference?
Because the AC compressor is always running, (no clutch in A2), check if it has gas, and, importantly, oil in it, or the compressor will be damaged.
Mac.

Progress and also I must add totally normal for the A2 climate. The fan won't work because the pressure in the ac lines is too low. This may be recent leak or just over time not being regassed or oiled with pag oil.
Find a good mobile local ac man and have the system pressure tested first before re gassing.
If you want to check the fan you can do so via fully functioning vcds as an output test. May be useful just incase.
Peer through the lower slats of the front bumper on the right side to see the bottom corner of the ac radiator (condensor). If its dark patchy and wet looking in the corners, likely its source of leak. The job is a bumper off and fairly straight forward bolt in. If you are taking bumper off why not plan a fee other jobs as its fairly involved time wise but not tricky. The access to altenator, compressor and eaux belt, intercooler on tdi, and radiator plus hoses and power steering fluid is greatly improved. Good luck

Try flicking the fan around by hand to get it moving keeping fingers out of the way, the fan may be suffering from a similar fate as the HVAC so try it on each speed , a/c needs fan speed 1 to run
