Has anyone fitted a Parrot?

Fitting Parrot RK8200

Hi,
I've just had a Parrot RK8200 fitted to my A2. Works fine except for 2 problems - 1) unit only works with IPODS series 5 or higher. Anyones older than that just produce an error message saying IPOD sof****e not supported
2) units internal memory cannot be written to if you are using XP service pack 3. It only works with VISTA and XP service packs 1 & 2. I'm in touch with Microsoft about this amd may get a fix shortly.
Apart from this it works perfectly. The bluetooth functions work very well, mic is very good and if your IPOD wont work just transfer the music to either an SD card or USB pen stick which it WILL use. All in all for £200 fitted (at Halfords) quite impressive.

Does it also have an external mic like other parrot kits, or is it an internal mic ?
Do you have OpenSky ? If yes, how's the mic going with the roof open ?

Hi, sorry about the delay in replying but I have been in hospital. The unit has its own internal mic which can be adjusted. The problem with Windows XP SP3 is now sorted. I believe an external mic can be fitted but from my experience is not required. My A2 is Opensky, regards,
Michael.
PS I will try and take some photo's and post them next week

Kind of update about the (still awaited) Parrot RK8200 :
Iwas fed up of waiting, since that headunit is still not released by Parrot... !!!

So I bought for the A2 a Clarion FB289RBT. That's a "basic" and inexpensive head unit, without mechanical CD player, and with a SD card reader for MP3 tracks and a Bluetooth connection to your mobile phone ; for calls of course but also streaming of MP3 music, or navigation guidance (for mobiles with integrated GPS). When streaming MP3's, the head unit even acts as a basic remote of the mobile phone (play/pause/prev/next).
The bluetooth functions are far from being as "deep" as with Parrot products, but it still offers the most important things to me (auto connect, call/answer from the headunit, external microphone, voice recognition, ...). What it mostly misses is the phonebook being copied to the headunit.

What convinced me in the end was its look that's integrate fairly well (when the illuminated is set to red), in my opinion, in the Audi A2 center console (my interior is beige/light brown : jive/twist, I think it's called).

I only payed 116€ for it (at Pixmania) :)

Fbi was this a plug and play fit?
please could you upload some photo's, as you have same interior as mine and would like to see what it looks like before taking the plunge.
cheers dave

Fitting was really plug & play, except that I had to buy an antenna plug "long male adapter", no big deal really and still plug & play :

I'll take some night and day pics of the head unit fitted to my car, and post them here.

As a friend of mine once said, he has a parrot which gets in the car with him on almost every journey, it's called 'the wife';)

he also has a free satnav called 'the kids':D

LOL
Iv'e the same problem!!!
Have been looking at upgrading stereo to bluetooth version but double din!!
I came across the jabra sp700 fits onto sunvisor but unlike most is also an fm transmitter so can be tuned through stereo!!
Has most upto date noise suppression i have the jawbone works in pub!!!
will be getting it soon and will report how it does!!

Well Jabra sp700 arrived and after charging it of too car too set it up!
Was easier than i thought having had the jawbone ear piece which was such a problem my boy now uses it for playing ps3 games with!
but this is much easier streams through fm transmitter via cars stereo for music playback or calls.
Is portable so can be used away from car niffty gadget.
Will stick by this for now as auto connects on power up with my iphone and as long as it holds a charge think it will suffice instead of messing with upgrade!!!
Also cheaper £32 so saved enough for something else!!!!

Here a the pictures of the fitted Clarion FB289RBT. Note that the buttons are black, but the outer surround is dark brown. That's OK in my "Jive" interior...

If Freeflags is still around, I'm too, interested to see how the RK8200 looks like when fitted on the A2... ;)

The problem with the RK8200 is that you can't get one !
Parrot has stopped selling it for a long time, because several important issues had to be sorted, but so far, after nearly one year, they haven't released it again... despite promising it every month.
(look at the support forum at www.parrot.fr under the "rythm&n blues" subject)

I have fitted the Parrot CK3100 car kit to my 1.6 HDI VTR+ hatch.
My C4 has not got the rear parking sensors fitted so I am unsure what problems you would have, if any?
I fitted the kit into my C4 using the ISO adapter lead (cost about £15.00 on the internet) made the installation simple, and also mutes the radio when using your phone. Fitted the kit without drilling 1 hole in the car, used double sided sticky pads on both the control box and the visual display unit, and clipped the microphone to the front A pillar using the clips supplied with the kit, works great.
The instruction with the kit is quite easy to follow, and the forum on the Parrot site is quite helpful.

Just fitted a bury 9060 to wifes micra far superior too parrot voice reconition is second too none waiting for quote for a2 fitting!!!

I have a CK3000 Parrot kit to install, I am going to attempt the install myself and I was wondering if there is a guide or any advice on how to connect the kit to the Audi Concert II and maybe some ideas about how to get the A pillar cover off so I can mount the mike up to the roof light panel and hide all the wires. If I was any nearer to Skipton Autos I would have Mike do it and happy pay him but sadly I don't trust any other Audio engineers with my A2. Any help is really welcome. Thanks Lamby.

I may be wrong (as a non-technical sort) but to integrate with the stereo in any given car you need some sort of car and stereo-specific loom. When my Parrot was fitted to my A6 they needed the exact build date/model + audio option fitted and just plugged in the right kit to make the parrott work.

I'm sure they're widely available if you try googling it or looking for a firm that fits car kits.

Hi Gonzo, good advice, I don't trust audio engineers on my A2... they butchered my megane sport and as I have a sort of electrical background as I repair computers, ipods etc, so connecting the unit is not a problem, it's the removing dash panels and feeding the mic into the roof (so I can fit all the wires away) I would like advice on. I had a look yesterday, and I have a plan of what to do so when I get around to the installation next weekend I will document the install and take photos.
