Chat Hellppppp engine light on within 3 days of purchase!!!!!!!

Thanks jeff
it was an easy decision for me.
A young family choose an A2 (a great choice, especially for a young family) then the car is a bit, well, "pants" and she asks our great forum for some advice.
So a little bit of my time can help them a lot.
So I am happy to help.

Thanks for the link. I will forward it to her and see what she says.

She has found a petrol 1.4 near us at half that price but I would rather she had a TDI for reliability and running costs. (Not having a go at petrol A2 owners it is just that at the cheaper end of the scale there are a few ropey cars around)

The great news is that Katie got her money back (the VCDS scan showing a long list of faults helped, I think!)

That car was just one of those that turn into a money pit and would let her down and potentially have safety issues such as the brakes.

I have just viewed another 1.4 petrol A2 for her that is half of the money she paid for this one.
Granted it is scruffy and dirty but it has a good little engine and the brakes are fine.

After having it setviced and fitting a new cambelt kit (when she gets chance) and finding a handbrake plastic handle that doesn't slip off (anyone got one available?). She should have a reliable car with money left over.

Fingers crossed for her and her family.

She he choose the right car model (the A2) but unfortunately the wrong car. So hopefully she will now have a safe and reliable car.

The different interior colours for tge A2 are

beige ("jive" or "twist", code 4QC)
pale grey ("platinum", code EC3),
dark grey ("swing", 24S)
black ("soul", 6PS)

The unit I have is for a car with a beige interior. What colour is yours?

Good luck, you are in good hands with Steve. Hopefully you will now be able to enjoy a proper A2.

Someone will have one in grey.

Member Nicwatson11 is breaking an A2 to put two others on the road perhaps he may be willibg to sell this to you.

The 1.4 petrol was not bad, certainly for £950.

Katie has it now and it will be booked in for a service and a cam belt ASAP.

It needs a bit of TLC and a decent service and it should be fine.

The tappets are a tiny bit noisy on start up but then they go quiet, as with many an AUA engine!

So fingers crossed that it works out ok, the scan was clean and the engine seemed sweet enough, brakes good etc.

It was a pleasure to help someone like this, not a chore!!!

Fantastic demonstration how as a club we sort out issues no matter how long you have been part of the owners club. Your welcome to come to any of the socials we have---see the socials section. cheers mike

Wow! What an amazing bunch of people you guys are.

There are plenty of helpful members on here, it is such a good club. What we tend to do is help in the areas local to us.

The way I see it, a couple of hours of my time has made a difference to someone, that is more than enough reward for me!
