Laser cut headlight switch, climate refurb

Having not long seen an episode of wheeler dealers, I contacted a small business seen on the show.
They specialise in refurbishment of obsolete porsche and maserati dash buttons and switches. These too suffer from soft touch rubbery paint that peels off.
Maybe someone has done this before but the process is strip prime paint black and then a computer controlled laser etches the logos onto the buttons. The finish is obscenely good.

I spoke to the chap and he said if we send him a headlight switch he'll see how long it would take to do and give a quote.

Anyone got absolutely rotten spare headlight switch they'd like to give away? Maybe the price is not too bad, and this turns into the perfect answer for refurbishment??

Check out the maserti 4200 gt episode s18 for the example.

Cheers.

So proactive! Fingers crossed 🀞🏽

Judging by the speed of the responses and the fact the light switch hasn't been returned yet (says its in the post) this isnt looking good at all.......

It’s finally arrived!
Looks pretty good to me, just a slight bit on the dimmer switch not quite there.

That looks fantastic Steve πŸ‘ I wonder if you could gently use a needle or something to tidy up the dimmer icon? Looks like there's just a little black paint the wasn't burnt off by the laser. What's the match like for the rest of the soft-touch switchwork when on the car?

Finally! Well I'm pleased with the results the deal I talked about with the guy was the first one is free as he needed to see if he could get the laser to do the job. @Cenick provided the donor switch.

I will ask for a cost unless youve had one stvee? Sadly the communication and time was very long, but this maybe becasue he did it for free and usually works on maserati and ferrari dash button who no doubt pay a lot!!

I think I may leave as is and will post a photo once it’s in the car

No price provided Ed, I can ask him if you like?

Wow that does look good steve! I spoke with the company yesterday and they said they wer eunder huge stress from other car manufacturers to do a lot of work on dashboards so had to rush the sample a little, hence the slight defect.

If anyone want to use this service to refurb the headlight switch as above its going to cost around Β£50. I will collect the details of contact and address etc soon and add to this thread.
