New fee structure

I thought the majority of members just clicked the 'whats new' tab. Obviously not.

Probably a bit of both Steve. I think tapa talk users will see this no problem but if you use the classic site without logging into the activity stream it could be missed so we'll sort that to assure as much exposure as possible.

edit: I've moved this announcement thread temporarily to the general forum so everyone should see it now when logging into the site. For anyone reading this for the first time please see #27 to get the drift of this discussion.

Any more ideas on what club funds should be spent on ????

We'd also like your views on any of the suggestions already put forward, whether positive or negative

Cheers Spike

Hi,

Just some thoughts, but they might need too much admin to make them work.

Could the club buy a VCDS cable (genuine of course) that members could borrow? It might be that you would have to ask for a deposit before it is sent, but it could be useful for someone who just wants to use VCDS for a one-off check or to perhaps pair a key etc?

Similarly with anything else that is a rarely used tool / piece of equipment that tends to be a "one-off" use and so not worth the cost for an individual?

Also perhaps a loan CCCU etc. and things like that?

Good idea Steve! I would be happy to be "custodian" of Rosscom VCDS (happy to scan too) and/or the hub removal tools. Depends on the funds in the club! There seam to be a lot of Yorkshire owners, but not many technical folk in the area (lots in the south, Birmingham and wrong side of the pennines!). These are items that I have nearly bought myself in the past.

With regard to the club having a vcds ---it has one but its "lost" along with a cccu that i believe tom donated but again its gone "missing". Thats why the more technical and trusted members do so many jobs at socials. In fact thats how a few of our regular socialites first attended a social--to get a scan/key code/cruise etc.

Hi Mike,

Yes that works but the technical and trusted members surely want to enjoy the day too?

With asking for a deposit surely that would help to ensure that the items get returned (or the deposit pays towards a replacement anyway)

In fact it would mean that members wouldn't have to wait until the next social or travel hundreds of miles to get a scan or change / program something?

We could perhaps even buy the correct and genuine K-CAN cable (or whatever it is called) so that the more technically capable members can program immobilisers, enable cluster swaps etc.

Daily bump to keep this current. Poll will be placed on the announcement forum this weekend. It's worth scanning this thread if you've time or are interested!

Hello everyone. We did state we would review the funding model after a year. That didn't happen for a variety of reasons ( one being I didn't get my finger out if I'm honest) however we'd like to do this now to have the communities views on the long term way forward.

The response to the donations campaign was frankly staggering in its response and generosity. At the present time our treasurer Ben advises we have a little over 4000 pounds on hand. A stark contrast to 2012 when we were looking at the prospect of being skint and unable to continue to forum in its previous format.

This assures the club's long term financial future and we have static costs covered for the next 6 to 7 years so the team is very grateful.

We're in a position now to plan ahead and consider the long term future of A2OC as we will hopefully enjoy classic car status in the not too distant future.

We've also debated some investment of the club funds and we've asked for feedback on this before. In addition we'd like to open this for discussion again linked to our desired way forward for financial support of the club.

Ideas the 'back office has in no particular order:

* Udating the forum software to a more modern platform ( Ben will outline what this means plus estimated costs)

* Financial support for socials and hospitality including prizes for cars attending events

* Annual charitable donations

* Prizes for forum contributions ( eg a paid subscription to Audi Driver)

* Reintroduce the merchandising section

* investment with Audi and other partners to preserve long term availability of spare parts

These are just a few things being rolled around. This could become an incredibly long post so that's pretty much enough for now.

This is an opportunity and invitation to debate these issues. In a nutshell regards funding do we continue the status quo and rely on voluntary donations with campaigns as and if required or are there other desired directions.

We know from last year's experience that we cannot satisfy everyone's wishes here but hope to secure a future which the majority agree with.

So over to the community for input and debate. The intention will be to give a couple of weeks to think this over then we will set up a poll to decide the way ahead.

Thanks everyone for making this great wee community what it is.

I would like to see the merchandising starting again. Clothing, jackets etc. I personally wouldn't like the annual charity donations as I already donate to the British Heart Foundation for saving my mum's life.

I think preserving these cars is a charity in itself! One thing we could consider is paying for is storage facility for spare parts. I think over the next few years there will be many spare parts available from scrapped cars. I think many of us already have personal collections of bits an pieces from cars we have worked on/salvaged/repaired. Things like doors, transmissions, engines, interiors are difficult to store, but if we don't salvage them now then they will be 100x scarcer in 10 years time.

This forum has been an invaluable tool in terms of member knowledge in my search so I'd be more than happy to contribute towards the upkeep of the site.

Kind regards
