What fuse ?
Please HELP !! Car not starting...ANY Ideas, comments welcome..

Battery about 6mths old, and it's a big 'un
, also uprated (from standard) alternator..

I discount the battery because it turns engine over no problem, although I will be re-checking connections, etc. tommorrow.

A neighbours polo had a similar problem, i scanned it and it came up with dash and immobilizer faults, it would start and stall straight away. I removed the dash checked connections etc. no change. he got the RAC out the chap gave the dash a good thump, the car started, he suggested a poor connection in the dashboard circuit board.

Really, you ask.. YES REALLY !!
Tried ALL things suggested, with no joy and (probably out of frustration
) gave the clock pod a good slap, which set the alarm beeping,
disconected battery a couple of times until beeping had stopped and lo an' behold car started.
I'm hoping this was just a 1 off glitch, alarm immobaliser got a bit confused, etc..

I'd start looking for a replacement cluster. And get it configured for a swap, or remove yours, and send it to @timmus for a refurb.And the Winner is.... @steveb (and the RAC chappy) !!

Dodgy solder joints don't get less dodgy with time.

I am with @PlasticMac here; regard the cluster as defective but coincidently working for the moment. If you are brave it can be ignored, but Murphys law hasnt been recalled last time I checked.

Ask him nicely, and he may be able to get an exchange refurbed cluster delivered to you ...I would like nothing more than for @timmus to come to my house to refurb my clocks. O, and maybe fit a colour DIS too, O, and my 4spoke multifunction steering wheel/control box, and cruise stalk...

That happened to me about two weeks ago. Mine is a tdi, I lifted the panel under the passenger footwell and checked all the connections and then used a hairdryer to blow warm air into it for some minutes- amazingly it sorted the problem!!??

I am, of course, happy to resolve this issue for good.
