Rear cupholders

Just a quick question for anyone who has purchased one of these cup holders recently.

What colour did you get?

Ive just been told the Platinum E59 one isnt available. Are there any known sources for these other than AMB-trade?
 
I Bought a black one from Audi 8 months months ago.

There are some around on eBay from time to time, I bought one a while back and it was like new.

So it may just be a case of waiting for one on eBay if they are no longer available from Audi.

Q. Is it correct that one of the brackets for the rear cupholder is no longer available. I don't have a clue how complex the part is but, if so, would it be practical to have a drawing made so that members can make (or have made) their own.

A good start would be a decent photo of the part

Hi Spike,

Yes there are two small parts that are no longer available.

I am not sure that it is worth the effort to reproduce them though, the unit still fits fine and is secure enough without the two little brackets.

Mine was perfectly ok without them and (from memory) they are a tricky shape and might be tricky to reproduce.

But who knows, there may be someone out there that could fabricate them, so it is worth asking I suppose?

i would assume if someone could get a spare one and the use of a 3d printer then this could be reproduced easily :)

They pop up on German ebay, the last one a week ago was gray, I guess that was platinum. Save searches for getränkehalter and becherhalter.

There was on on uk ebay last week and I missed out on it by £2. I then ordered one through amb-trade and got an email that suggests it is no longer available.

Im wondering it just the black ones are available at the cheaper price. Maybe I could spray it light grey.

Incidentally in my searches, on the a2 forum a member used to make the brackets that arent available anymore. I dont know if he still does them now though.
 
I think the prices are the same for all colors. They had them two months ago, the blacks I mean.

And, as the guys said, you need no brackets that goes under the back seat, the cup holder sits tight without them.

Can I also ask what the difference is between 8Z0863476 and 8Z0863476A ?

The difference is the colour

I believe that 8Z0863476 is the "swing" (dark grey) and the 8Z0863476A is the platinum.

All I did was to google the part numbers and that clarified the difference, give it a go, google 8Z0863476A then google 8Z0863476 - simples!!

The colour codes you are quoting are the Audi colour codes but they didn't necessarily use the code on all of the part numbers (by the look of it)

For reference my car has 'swing' dark grey trim and this was discontinued in 2002 so the 476A part should not be available in that colour

Hi Spike, I stand corrected, I should have looked a little closer at the results of the google.
One comment though, when I ordered mine from the dealer I was not asked for the chassis number,so perhaps it is not a vital difference.

But now I am intrigued to find out what the actual difference is!!!

By the way, the part that is no longer available is part number 16 in the diagram on your link.

Looking at the description on partsbase
8Z0863476 states - stowage compartment with cover; drinks holder
8Z0863476A states - stowage compartment with cover; drinks holder; also use:; *>>8Z-2-025000; 8Z0 864 079 B

8Z0 864 079 B states - bracket; also use:; front; in corresponding colour; *>>8Z-2-025000; 8Z0 863 476 A

I think the key is the "in corresponding colour" perhaps in some interior colours (such as my wife's light brown / dark cream, or the platinum because they are so light??) the black front mount would show and so for some colours you use the alternative one that has a different front bracket that doesn't show????

Just a half educated guess?
