Serious question, should I back off with the jokes?

On a thread like this it's more than fine. However like everything in life there is a time and place for corny humour and sometimes it isn't appropriate - just ocassionally it grates with me however I accept I am reputed to be one of the straight laced members so maybe should keep quiet?
I would hope that you would not stay quiet. This forum has a wide variety of members and everyone is different.
I wanted to hear from the people who are not necessarily enjoying it. That was the reason I asked.
I think I could almost predict who would have given a positive response. But the negative responses are as important.
If I thought that my attempts at humour were annoying even a small proportion of members then I would gladly change my approach.
The way I see it, i would not offend anyone by NOT trying to be amusing. I can easily offend or annoy some members by trying to be funny. So i will modify my attempts a little.
If the voting continues as it is at the moment, i.e. Hugely supportive, but with a handful of members that don't like it, then I will certainly modify my humour and ease off a little. Perhaps posting any jokes, puns and "funny" comments in the "laughter lounge" section.

So i really appreciate your honest and open comments Adrian and I will respect that viewpoint.

So i will aim for a better balance.

Cheers

Thanks for the response Steve, it is apreciated! As you say there is a humour section but that doesn't mean on occasions banter on some threads isn't beneficial, even I have suggested there is a need to 'lighten up' with some pedantic discussions and opinions! It is not that your humour is annoying, I just think it can sometimes be a little misplaced and distracting so that isn't a suggestion it should be restricted to the humour section. We have had some rather heavy discussions on the forum at times of late so do realise we are also on here to socialise and have some fun within our shared interest.

Hi Adrian,

Cheers, I think we understand each other. Thank you for the comments.

If I had to post enough humour to balance out the occasional heated debate we have had recently even I would run out of "jokes".
But as you say, lightening the mood a little, occasionally, is not a bad thing.
