Today I.....

Evening all,

After a bit of work between meetings today I’ve managed to transform what I picked up just off a local roundabout this morning:

Here’s the unfortunate item

Since then it’s been sanded down and attacked with the Dremel to create a valley to get some molten plastic in to reinforce the large split what it’s been run over since Saturday evening:

Valley created

Fibre plastic added (with a solder iron)

Flexible plastic added

Filled and sanded

A few pin holes where I don’t waiting enough before sanding but not the end of the world

Primer cured and sanded (800 grit)

6 coats of paint and 10 coats of lacquer

Yes there are some slight/minor imperfections but with this item rather low on the car I can accept it’s not perfect. You’d not notice to be honest and they may even disappear when I get the 3000 grit and polish on it tomorrow.

Such a dramatic change and resolution to what I picked up from the road earlier this morning.

Kind regards,

Tom

Good work and fast sir!
Hi Edd,

The finished article looks much better here than in the picture. The kitchen spot lights make it look as it’s the white reflections are lint chips but can confirm that it’s just reflections. I’ll rub it down tomorrow evening followed by a polish to bring it up a professional finish.

I’ll add a picture in natural light in the morning.

Kind regards,

Tom

I have a heavy duty trolley with front steering, rolled it out of my unit, then lifted it on the truck ( had a few eggs for breakfast though ;) )
4 of us lifted the shell of the trolley on to the truck.
You made good use of that one Ami 👍

Today I went with my Brother in law to have a look at a Rickman Ranger that was for sale. It had Suburu 4wd running gear and an Audi A2 1.4tdi engine, and even a Porsche steering wheel. Needless to say he bought it.. I doubt many of Audi's finest 3 cylinders have ever ended up in a crazy conraption like this :)

Not the Rickman brothers of Metisse, (motor cycles), fame, is it?
Mac.

Nice weather today so managed to do some jobs at the front end:

- Changed dog-bone mount
- Changed oil & filter
- Changed air filter
- Changed drops for Meyle HD ones
- Fitted ATE ceramic pads and coated disks (noticed O/S disk cover dust plate is missing completely - so thats another job to add to the list!)
- Postponed changing the gearbox oil as was too stupid to think of looking at the front of the gearbox for the filler plug 🥴

If its nice again tomorrow I'll have a go at the back,

- New drums and shoes (and maybe cylinders) to fit
- Bottom spring mounts
- Attempt to get the handbrake to work properly (hoping its just the wedges seized in the old parts) and badly adjusted
- Fuel filter
