Used car valuations

Don't make me laugh!!
I recently took my cherished (but not perfect) A2 to a garage in part exchange for a larger car that I was considering buying.
My A2 is mechanically sound but the interior, I admit, needs a bit of tlc. The fabric seats are stained, the rear window winder is missing, part of the parking brake gaitor is missing and the parking brake stud might need replacing. No big deal I thought. They offered me £500... which I laughed at, got into my car and came away. Apart from cosmetic things that could be improved she is fabulous but I don't live in her, I drive her and the ride is still as smooth as it was the day I bought her. How do I find out what her value is?

Sorry. No idea how you'd value an Italian registered car. The prices on the continent differs significantly from those in UK

I'm new to this forum, so I'm not sure if this is the appropriate place to ask the question, but for work reasons, I'm going to have to let my old work horse go. It's a Y reg TDI SE with 148k on the clock. I was thinking of trying to sell it through the A2OC but don't have much idea what a fair valuation is. I paid about £4k almost 2.5 years and 70,000 miles ago. I had it MOTd at the end Feb. The wisebuyers site suggests £1355 for poor condition (I think it's probably a little better than that), but would anyone know if that's a reasonable asking price?

How realistic do people find the wise-buyers valuations? Or is there another free valuation site? My 'OH' is increasingly keen to get into a new or newish car on PCP deal as a retirement present to herself and given the extensive TLC the A2 needs to bring it back up to scratch unfortunately I haven't time to take it off the road for the time required.

I haven't used that site but before selling my A6 recently I got a few free valuations which gave a range of £6k to £6.5k. Then I paid for a Glass's valuation (£3.95?) and entered mileage and options. This gave me a private sale valuation for my condition of £7,200. With 24 hours I got £7,400 for it.

A good return on an investment of £3.95.

You're not leaving us Adrian? I think the trade figures on wise buyers is reflective but the others aren't. You need to do a bit of guesswork however it's recommended solely due to the mileage adjustment option and I've not found a free site that does that.
I only use it for A2 really, and you get a flavour of how close or wide of the mark it is when people ask for valuations and you get a chance to compare the stated figure with what may have been offered in part exchange.

If anyone knows of a more accurate site please link it here

As far as I'm aware CAP is the "go to" for private resale valuation. Whenever i go to an auction, the trade version of the sale catalogue has the CAP price on it as a guide price (general public dont get the cap price on their version of the catalogues)

Heres the link i use to get a valuation while I'm there:

http://www.cap.co.uk/car-valuation

Oh and it lets you adjust the price for mileage too

I'm thinking of selling my 52 plate blue 1.4 tdi , it's got 125000 on the clock , I'd motd till next march and has been remapped , engine is perfect and pulls great due to remap , I have owned this car for a least 4 years , never had it over 80 and ran it on v power diesel since I've owned it , what's it worth ?

Its oh so difficult to value a members car Hadi so as not to cause offence. There will be cars very similar to yours on ebay and autotrader which may give you some idea.

For trade in prices google CAP connect FORD, enter reg, mileage etc

NB: this is what a dealer might pay for trade in value only. Quite often cars sell for more even at auction

Hi all - confused
2002 1.4 petrol SE 76K very clean and tidy
Wiseman part ex = £1992
Ford connect trade in £800

Hi guys,

Can someone please offer me some advice on pricing my A2 which I will be selling, I have had a look on the wise buyers link and the suggested private price is: £2,534 but this doesn't take into account the condition, spec and extras

However I want to be realistic, and is this likely to be an up-to-date estimate?

Its a 2003 FSI Sport in really really good condition inside and out
Mileage is 92/93K
Its all up to date, it had the cambelt and waterpump done in October and was serviced yesterday
Open sky roof (fully working)
Alcantara interior
5 seats
Electric windows front and back
Sports seats with electric lumbar support
Double din stereo - updated to a newer Audi Symphony II + unit (newer no tape deck version but still has 6CD capacity)
Alloys updated to newer 16" from a 2014 Audi A1
I have a full service history and its been well looked after obviously

Please note, I will sort out some photos and list it properly in the selling section, but for now I am just asking what guide price is realistic

Many thanks

Lee

@leehallum With the FSIs it's VERY important to make sure the Engine Management Light is not on. As I'm sure people will back me up on this, any issues with the FSI's cause the price to drop significantly, as they can be expensive to fix. If yours is as good as you say, then, with patience, I don't see why you shouldn't realise about £2,500. But I think patience is the key here. For a quick sale you're looking at probably £1500. Trade-in prices I'm afraid are at best, terrible, as they usually ignore the extras list and look at worst case scenario, you'll probably be offered £500.

Good luck with sale anyway :)

I have two FSI's and watch prices. You figure sounds about right. Actually I think the Cazana site is quite good, try it and add extra for plus points.

PS. Use check a cars history.

Thanks guys, I want to be realistic with the price as at the end of the day its a 14/15yr old car, and however much I like it its going to have a price that it will actually sell for.

I will have a look on ebay and autotrader and pitch it along those lines as you suggest.
