The more I look at this blue car, the more issues I find.. Must stop looking
Good Afternoon,Next up, the number plate lights, so another scan of the forum, and I found the video of the German guy doing this job, but in German. After a bit of reading and detailed watching I realised what was going on. 4 very rusty screws later I managed to pop off the lower tailgate exterior trim quite easily. Using the red plastic tool I prised it down from the top and it eased out quite nicely.

With that off, it's quite easy to remove the lights. Although now my boot doesn't lock again doh.

Any tips on where to get good quality new number plate lights from? Will also need the two tiny torx screws ideally in stainless.
Thanks for that Andy, but what a nightmare website, they want an EORI number, which I don't have, and at one point wanted 80 euros for delivery.. Not sure that that is going to fly..Good Afternoon,
New number tail lights available at Audi Tradition, candidates for Rick's next AT group buy.
Looks like they come with screws but if not you need No6 (3.5mm) 5/8" (16mm) stainless from anywhere eg. eBay, Screwfix etc for pennies.
Andy
Looking at the prices of replacements this seems like a much better idea Sir!Hello,
May I make a suggestion.
Your probably already well on with it.
The the black plastic holders for the number plate lights did they need a repair?

If they are fixable make a scribe on the side to remamber the angle of the screw hole. Remove all the old rusty screw and squirt some brake cleaner in there. Once it's dry fill it with Quick Steel, drill your pilot holes and after an hour or so put a screw in there to make a thread. Take it out again though to let it cure. Fixed.
I've got some second hand ok lenses that could be fixed with a bit of bodge work. @Ami used epoxy and a small washer to remake the cracked mounting hole.
Save yourself £80.
What do you think to the plan?

The lenses are FOC to your good self
I used hot melt to do this, the thick glue that hardens fast, However I now have some LED ones.Hello,

Good Evening,Thanks for that Andy, but what a nightmare website, they want an EORI number, which I don't have, and at one point wanted 80 euros for delivery.. Not sure that that is going to fly..
Sorry about that Andy, I'm probably being a bit dopey as usual. I want to get this done asap though, and cheaply if possible, so some kind of repair is probably on the cards.Good Evening,
You did not pick up on the reference to Rick. Rick is a member who kindly arranges regular group orders for members at no profit to himself and a loss of considerable spare time. Postage is nothing more than standard mail from Germany, not much.

Group buy February AT and Volico is open
Good morning from an unseasonably mild Black Forest in Germany. The snow poles look a bit sad and all our ski areas are closed again. Early days yet though as our neighbour says "The cow isn't off the ice until April"... So, open for AT and Volico orders once again. Maybe petrol flap switches...www.a2oc.net

That's awesome, definitely good enough for me!Ready for fitting

Fixed the broken lenses with a little ingenuity
@DaveySprocket please go steady when snugging up the screws my repair meets but does not exceed the internationally recognised 'good enough' standard
Agreed, I will track some down and get them ordered, cheers. You can buy all new fixings on eBay for the under tray - worth doing.
