Today I.....

Hi Alan ... just having another look at the springs in my last picture ... if yours are stretched a bit you might be able to cut the attachment bracket and hook the spring onto the next hole up ?

Looking at your photos Tom, I see what you mean. Worth a try. Will have to do it when my back is better - twisted it on Friday and now hobbling around :(

Collected Project ... Shed (can't really think of any better way to describe this one)..

Just seen your advert for its mudflaps ... from a car with Votex, that's a first, surely. In which case I think I saw this one advertised earlier this year in Norwich, private seller, IIRC they started it at about £2k but dropped it a bit before it disappeared. Hope it's not as bad as the advert looked!

Indeed, that's why they're coming straight off. They scrape like nobody's business.

Just ordered 4 x Michelin Cross Climates to be fitted next Saturday, £60 each inc fitting and a free Amazon Echo thrown in as a bonus!

That's a good price. Had them fitted to one of our cars last year and they were fantastic in the snow.

Today I hopefully sorted the reason for my scuffing rear wheels.

Admittedly I have put slightly oversized tyres on - 205/55 R16 on mk1 TT Ronal 7 spokes... but it felt worse than an extra 1cm could justify.

Took a look and this is what I found:

Nothing! Absolutely no spring bottom rubber at all! Metal on metal.
The top ones were about half the width of the replacements as well. Hopefully that’s it sorted.

I think my bump stops may be on the way out too though...

Note the quality gaffer tape camo job by my former regular garage.

Today I benefited from the @timmus experience. After an initial diagnosis of Agnes’ electrical woes last week, today she has had a new instrument cluster & CCCU fitted (and keys coded), ‘A’ pillar trims refitted, stereo realigned and a beep sound has appeared when the central locking is activated. He also performed an Obi Wan Kenobi mind trick on a traffic warden who was looking to give the stricken Agnes a parking ticket “there’s nothing to see here ...”

Top man, delighted to have met him and if you get the chance to experience the @timmus grab it with both hands, you won’t be disappointed.

There seems no end to his talents ? ... If anyone could come up with an off-switch for traffic wardens, Tom's your man!

I think mine are in a similar state & have obtained replacements but I’m still battling the rain to get my cylinder head off to assess damage after cambelt failure.

Tried replacing front flashing led sidelight bulb with ones i bought from halfords, they were too long and wouldn't fit into lens. So 501 5w filament bulbs put in place while i search for correct length leds. Anything less than 33mm overall length. But did have success removing rear number plate lights and replacing them with C5w 30 lumen led bulbs. My old ones although still working were black!
