Today I.....

managed to fit the refurbished wheels on today, what do you think? I'm not sure.

Changed the cambelt on XEN....,..
So much for it having Xxx miles left. The belt had original Audi marks in it and the water pump was weeping. Sheared one of the bolts off on the engine mount but will worry about that later. On inspection there was visible signs of the teeth failing , cracks evident when turning the belt inside out. Thankfull that I purchased the locking tools. Did an oil change while I was there, filter looking a little collapsed if I do say so.
Seems a little less lumpy on tickover but may be the placebo effect ?

I was gonna do them silver or grey silver but couldn't resist. Won't take much to change the colour, it was the clean up and preparing that took ages.

Ah but due to the phone camera they do look like they match but they are a much brighter white than the car. I used appliance white from Halfords and it is very white. It is a very tidy car though, thanks Steve.

Today I bought the well-known £225 A2 from Steve. ? Great guy and thanks to his efforts this is definitely not a £225 A2 anymore.
Very happy with it, and as I don't need a car for commuting (thank god..), it will mainly be used for making long trips around the UK, and the occasional dash into France and the Netherlands (where my family lives).

First order of business, as faith were to have it, this set was for sale almost exactly in the middle between Bristol and London. Couldn't help myself.

Good to meet you today Martjin, I’m sure you’ll be very happy with it. I’m still not sure that I should of sold as I was rather taken with it

I tried out my new VCDS to find out what the "you went to Sainsbury rather than Tesco for fuel - I'm putting my EMF light on", was actually showing up. Turned out it was 17412 Torque difference Cylinder 1 etc. Looking into that code on Google, it suggests dirty injector. It didn't come back once I'd cleared, restarted and rescanned, so I've interpreted it as the injector equivalent, of the old school "s£&# in the carburettor".

I was impressed by the complete abscence of any other codes. I have an awesome garage ?

Today I went to see a castle red tdi, which looked nice on the trader's website. Turned the key on and the EML light would not briefly appear as it should, so I walked away. Hate to see this kind of dubious fiddling with cars.

Mine (02 TDI75) does not illuminate on start up, however on plugging in a diagnostic system it does. I think Im right in saying early cars use the glow plug light instead if the EML? Happy to be told otherwise.

It was a 2002 car, so you might be right....

Well, yesterday and Saturday to be honest, but ...

Assisted Tom to remove the BOSE loom from RorD, then put it back together again, then immediately sold it. Received a couple of sets of wheels for the 90 and Baby Boomer, started stripping "the shed", and finally fixed the wing mirrors on the 90, together with fitting of heated drivers' side mirror (it was already heated on passenger side).

All around, many thanks to @timmus for your advise and thanks for putting up with your favourite job ... again! Great to see you, and hopefully you'll be fitter soon to be able to return and fit the BOSE. :)

Yesterday I... gave Lyra a proper wash and detail but Today I... Had to give her a wipe down as the gardener decided to blow cut grass all over her, I was not impressed this morning but after a wipe down we are back to looking great. On another note I cannot wait to get my coilovers fitted which will be arriving tomorrow!

Since Tuesday night and into next week I have the legend that is @timmus staying at mine and working on my cars. All the toys from my breaker are finally being bestowed upon them, along with various other upgrades that I've been collecting. So far, Pure has (finally!) gained cruise control and had a remap - me likey :D. Now she's definitely fit for the Scotland trip :)

I'd already pretty much stripped the breaker but Tom finally liberated its MFSW, DIS and various wiring looms including BOSE and rear electric windows. We've had the double-DIN dash out of it, and the single-DIN dash is now out of the Crystal Blue ready to receive its upgrade. A new G263 is going in while the dash is out!
