Further to the big brake 312mm topic - I'm putting a pile of parts together at the moment going straight to 312 from the current standard setup. Probably the biggest question I have concerns the hub carrier / hub-bearing inserts when not using the Vrs component - I may have gone off half-cocked here, but is it possible to use the TT (8N) / A3 (8L) casting steering knuckle equivalent - ie and build up from there? The bit that is confusing me is that Golf IV 5x100 hub images have what looks like an ABS ring on the back of them that I don't recall from the equivalent A2 part. I noted
@A2Steve 's comment 102 above about ABS / speed sensors and wondered if this is related, but wondered what the solution would be in terms of mix & matching of parts - ie. Golf IV (similar to 8L A3) hub carrier castings (which use different bolt-on brackets to locate either 288 or 312mm caliper) using A2 bearings, Golf IV hubs using Golf IV bearing / hub parts etc.? I may have completely mis-understood the whole concept though so open to thoughts and suggestions from people with a bit more knowhow.
