Today I.....

Ian @Bargepower REALLY SORRY TO HEAR THIS LATEST BAD NEWS
Just shows nowhere is safe now. Always surprises me that passers by never question why a car is hastily and dangerously been jacked up and some dodgy geezers crawling around with power tools and saws. Something must be on a dash cam or CCTV?
It looks like a 3 am job, it was done from the kerb side and there’s a high hedge between the footpath and the houses.
Police don’t hold any hope. Looks like a new pattern part will be the answer, but a nightmare to fit properly where the car is stranded.

Well, what’s left of the exhaust is resting on the road surface at each end, so it’s not going anywhere without some work. I used to be a member of Green Flag, but not any longer.

Remember a lot of these recovery companies it is the person that is covered not the car. May even be worth comparing the cost of rejoining one to that of a garage tow price.

Have seen someone in the past tape a couple of broom handles together and insert into the cut ends to support the remains of the exhaust enough to transport the car.

It’ll get bodged at the roadside, then driven to somewhere where I can fit the replacement.
I’m not paying London garage prices, they’re obscene.
I paid £175 for my mot, service, rear brakes including wheel cylinders and a replacement spring set in Sheffield. I was quoted £700 plus “whatever it needs for the mot” down here!

Today I decided I ought to attend the Richmond get together.
For anyone needing parts from the South West, I am visiting Steve Edwards on Saturday and plan on driving up on Sunday morning.
Quite willing to transport parts if required. Apologies for the short notice.

Today I. Unpacked the two MK1 Audi TT heated leather seats for the Little Atom project. It's now off the road as it wouldn't have made it through the MOT. Trouble is I was on the forum and saw A2Steve interior and asked the question.
So I blame him ?. Must admit I'm please with what's come through ordered Tuesday lunch and arrived lunchtime today. The wife left them in the front garden for when I got home, I tried to persuade her that they were for her comfort. Mmmmmm

I need to do this for mine . I’ve tried but failed so far to find a source for the large headed torx fasteners in stainless steel at a reasonable price . It’s a lot of cash but IMO it’s worth it to protect the engine etc from road salt . So that’s why I’ve liked your post . Don’t much like the cost for bolts etc
though !!

Indeed…and the parts guy was astonished parts were still available for A2’s ?

Anyone from the Essex area got any experience of a garage that understand/have experience with A2’s?!

I use Key Motors in Dunmow, they are not specialists in anything as far as I know but they are proper old school mechanics. They did my 6 speed conversion and they do cambelts for me.

Part one of ‘operation black roof’ complete. Thanks for supplying these @Clackers they’re just the job. Now just the small matter of getting remaining bits resprayed in Ebony Black in a few weeks. ?
