Looking Good @7A5B3 , it was good to meet you yesterday Andrew, hope MAF worked out ok for you.
Cheers
Ami
How'd the car feel?I has
MAF sensor is a success so far. Thanks for a grand afternoon. I'll be in contact soon.

The old wishbone bushes were shot on the front the powerflex are easy to fit but make a noise going over speed bumps. Car drives great after wheel alignment.
The front wheels used to lean in at the top, the camber is better now which has increased grip ??

Bonnet top vent?
Correct in one, the lattice work of the air intake on the bonnet that I could never get clean. However much I tried I could never get it completely clean and of course the green mould would return. After many years of this annoying me I decided to strip it down and sort it out for good, I get these silly ideas occasionally. Always been reluctant to use chemicals in case it damages the paint. The plan was to give a good clean put it in the dishwasher, but it's too big!

Nothing Special is getting a bit of TLC this Spring and Summer.

Mines the same, like a little woodland. Is it simple to take apart?

An old toothbrush, some car shampoo and water, leave to dry, treat with a plastic cleaner and renovator = as good as new. I've done this with success previously, moss hasn't returned yet.

Thanks to @2work Tom for selling me the wheel. I’m going to dribble everytime I get in it for some time to come!
Afternoon David,

That does look a very welcoming cabin, you should be very happy with this transformation. Tom’s been hard at work there for you. What else is being added for you?

Thank you so much again for the purchase, glad it’s finally been put to great use.

Kind regards,

Tom

Yes it’s perfect Tom as I deliberately didn’t want anything with the S-Line buttons etc. - my whole ethos with this car is that it should be brought up to date but not in any way that is obviously modified from OE to the casual observer / passenger. I think the wheel (and the colour DIS!) will keep things nicely on track with that.

The full list of jobs Tom’s cracking on with can be found on the latest post of the car’s Blog thread - I’ve also asked Tom to look at whether the club armrest kit could be installed when everything goes back together too.

Yes and no, remove 27!!! fixings and you you will have the grille in your hand.

First remove felt sound insulation, entails removing 6 squeezy wonderfully easy plastic clips, compensated by 3 nasty clamping washers - star shaped things that bite into a little plastic stud.

Now you can get at the fixings that hold the air box to the underside of the bonnet. 8 fixings that looking at 7zap changed type over the production years. I had 3 easy torx screws, two big headed expanding plastic rivets on the ends. I can never get these out without knocking the pin all the way through and will have some fun retrieving the pins from inside the bonnet fabrication. Next 3 nasty expanding clamping rivets that just disintegrated when touched, easy enough to replace.

Their box is now off the bonnet and turn it over. Last hurdle is 10! of those horrible clamping washers, but quite small this time, and the grille and the separate body coloured slats lift off.

Found I had a sticky front caliper which probably wasn't helping my MPG. So new disks, pads and front calipers. Annoyingly now it's back together and bled the new hoses have shown up...
