'Golf in lingerie' pretty accurate description. I had a quattro sport version for a few years which was ok - needed a gearbox rebuild which was done under warranty but otherwise was reliable. OK to drive - tonnes of grip and decent acceleration but just became a bit dull after a while. Simon.

Today I serviced my OSS; Cleaned out the old grease from the tracks. Cleaned the seals with baby wipes. Lubed the tracks with PTFE grease. Lubed the seals with Silicone spray. Lubed the pivot points with Silkopen. Job done! Simon.

Nice job on the write up Meeno with some clear conclusions on the suitability of this swap. One question though: the chop on the gearbox casting - does it definitely have to be that brutal as that has seriously weakened that boss - those webs won't have been there just for the look of it. Simon.

Today I changed the oil and filters and also swapped the drop links for some new Meyle ones - impressed with the quality of them and hopefully they will cure the knocking I've been experiencing. Simon.

As people have said it's unlikely it bottomed out and as it sheared on tightening rather than loosening you have a good chance of unscrewing it. As already suggested use a sharp punch to tap the broken end to slowly unscrew it or use a small cut-off wheel to make a screw driver slot. Best of...
