Driver's side door won't lock / weird locking noise

Not sure about the Microswitches - I had that issue on my MK4 Golf and you could tell that was the problem by the fact that the interior courtesy light didn't come on when you opened the door, and also that the lights-on buzzer didn't sound when the door was opened. In this case both of those...

Driver's side door won't lock / weird locking noise

Hi everyone, Our 04 TDI 90 Sport has suddenly stopped locking the driver's side door using the central locking remote or button. All other doors work fine. You can hear the door trying to lock but with a slightly weird buzzing noise. I tried locking and unlocking using the key but got into a...

help needed sourcing rear caliper carriers

That's an interesting thought. I have looked on eBay and found someone fairly locally (same county at least) with a disc-based rear axle, I'm getting to the point where that might be the easiest way out! I'd be interested to know what issues Steve Birchall had - I'll see if I can find that thread.

help needed sourcing rear caliper carriers

The brake disks and calipers have already been replaced with brand new units from TPS and fit perfectly when using the old carriers. That's the first thing they replaced when they found the offset was wrong. We've confirmed the part numbers and they're all correct. The only thing I can think...

help needed sourcing rear caliper carriers

I've just spoken with the garage again and they're completely stumped. The carriers they have have the wrong offset and they only thing they can suggest is having the carriers machined so that it corrects the offset. It's almost like the rear brakes have been changed at some point for...

help needed sourcing rear caliper carriers

If you have them handy somewhere, do you think you'd be able to measure them? It's the offset that's wrong, so perhaps we could measure that.

help needed sourcing rear caliper carriers

That's part of the problem I think, the old carriers are so rusty they can't make anything out. EDIT - Oh, mis-read this, you're asking about the NEW carrier, I'll ask..

help needed sourcing rear caliper carriers

Hi everyone, been a while since I've been on here and typically it's only when I want something ;-) Our 2004 TDI 90 A2 is currently at our local VW specialist having its MOT, which it's failed on (amongst other things) rear brakes binding. We initially assumed it was just seizing calipers...

50mpg from 1.4TDI90 on long trip - normal?

OK, thanks everyone. Sounds like I need to change the Thermostat and Temp Sender as a trial - I'll get working on that. Also intrigued by RABs suggestion of checking the VNT mechanism - thanks for that, I'll try to find that lever.. I will report back to the thread with results, but it...

50mpg from 1.4TDI90 on long trip - normal?

Are we agreed that there is actually an issue with the fuel economy of the car? I can see things like tyre pressures, aero mods making a small amount of difference, but not the 10 or even 20mpg I seem to be missing on long journeys compared to some other cars here. And if it was just a heavy...

50mpg from 1.4TDI90 on long trip - normal?

Mine shows instantaneous MPG and total MPG since last reset. I guess I should reset it on every tank fill.

50mpg from 1.4TDI90 on long trip - normal?

Why didn't I start this thread in the cold weather so I wouldn't have minded turning off the AC as a test? ;) (Still, I expect it will be -20 again soon with the way the weather is these days..)

50mpg from 1.4TDI90 on long trip - normal?

from memory, around 35psi. I'm going to up that as per the advice above Correct - changed to 15" a couple of months back and has probably increased mpg by a small amount - +2 or +3 average maybe? I think I was maybe 47ish now 50ish. No. A mixture. One trip was a couple of days ago, good...

50mpg from 1.4TDI90 on long trip - normal?

Perhaps I'm being unreasonable, but I see other threads here with people mentioning 60-70 mpg from their TDIs. I've never seen more than low 50s. I've got an 04 TDI 90 Sport now running on 15" pepperpots - partly for efficiency and partly for comfort. It's just had a full service - fuel...

    No cold air!

I had the same issue and ran through a reset/re-calibration routing in VAG-COM as described here - http://www.a2oc.net/forum/showthread.php?8816-Faults-with-automatic-air-condition-(Klimavollautomat)&p=67346#post67346 - still seems to be working ok.

    Changing handbrake lever knob

8Z0 711 333 A 3Q7 I've just bought one from Stoke Audi for £16.98 including postage (but might be worth trying Pete Boustred [[email protected]] who's very cheap..)
