Well i had to de badge my A2 on saturday when i had a bit of a spring clean, after looking was unsure weather to put the 4 Rings back on the tailgate.

The A2 and TDI are staying off

Cheers Phil

i am thinking of doing the same thing as is hard to wax around them, i havent seen many with out the rings and cant decide with or with out either, il have to look in on your posts to see wot people say. a frend come up with the idea of putting magnets on the back of the rings wich would make cleaning easier??????

That would be a good idea if the car wasn't aluminium! lol

... and I thought it was plastic!

People still ask me who makes the A2; so the '4 rings' seem pretty superfluous. I've thought about replacing them with "AUDI" - but then that doesn't solve the cleaning problem.

I like my rings at the back. Mine was debadged from the factory; it's so rare here that no-one generally knows what it is.

Besides, I like them as a photoop. :)

I think "with" Phil TBH. I admire your efforts/enthusiasm, but the four rings look more "in place" with the rear, than the rear does without them.

Besides, unless you are planning on a modified de-badged grill too, I don't quite see why you would want to remove the rings from the rear. (And yes, I appreciate that you can't view both at the same time... :)).

As for the A2 and engine badges, I actually think I prefer the plainness and cleanliness of the rear without them. I have toyed on many occasions with doing the same, but to date I haven't. I think that I like the fact that these badges offer a degree of personal satisfaction when "boy racer in your boot" tries it on and gets the surprise of their life when the little 1.4 TDI scampers away into the sunset... :D

You've got to get the rings back Phil, it just doesn't look right without.

However, if you've now waxed that panel, you'll have to strip it again, otherwise, they won't stick!

I like the de-badged look lower down though and may well go down this route myself in the future.

Cheers,

Mike

Keep the 4 rings, lose the other two badges though. That's what my car is like and I like it. It looks wrong without the 4 rings.

Yes i was thinking of putting them back on (4 rings only), was going to look for decals instead, but think i will go with the badges, but it will be after my hinges get done, as i drop it off tomorrow and the car needs cleaning again after a crazy sunday, sun first thing as you can see from my photos and then snow, hail, rain, snow, sun, rain, snow and then finaly rain so the cars black again now

Cheers Phil

:eek:those lights look so much like a skoda Fabias

thank god for the spoiler
otherwise thats what I think it would be if I came up behind it.

Definately rings but leave the A2 and engine badge. Mine's debadged (took them off as they were visibly cracking) but left the rings. Looks much better IMO.

I'm proud of my 4 rings!

Main reason why I bought the car in the first place. Seems crazy, to me, to remove them.

After all, it's not a Citroen Saxo (or other) fart box that we're driving!

Wow this has got people talking, well just to add to this i dropped my A2 off for door hinges and got CC while its getting done the CC is a new shape A4 and the rear 4 Rings is slightly bigger, i was thinking of putting them on as it would make it a bit easier to polish as the gaps are bigger, just thought i would throw this one in to the mix

Cheers Phil

Removing badges...

Could anyone suggest or recommend an easy and safe way to remove the lower badges without causing damage to the paintwork. Would a hairdryer do the trick?

Cheers,

Ian

I just used a plastic rule to get access and then pulled them off. They are made of plastic with black foam rubber underneath. A mark was left on the paintwork (shadow of the letters) but this disappeared after a few cleans.

Hope this helps

Neil

As he said, i used a plastic filler spreader card to get underneath and then jsut polished as normal, just keep it nice and flat don't dig

Cheers Phil

I Think this poll is a little one sided
who voted against the rings.

It just looks plain wrong LOL !!!!

Removing badges... part 2

:) Thanks Phil and Neil,

I'm a very nervous person, even when removing plasters from a cut finger. :D

I would think removing the badges in warmer weather may prevent damaging the paintwork.

Initially, I thought I would have needed a specialised tool for removal!

I Think if you warm the badge up first with a hairdryer
it will soften the adhesive and make it easier to remove .

Correct Carl - you've got to use mild heat on the badge to remove it properly. If you do it right, the badge should be reuseable, as all the adhesive will come away intact.

Cheers,

Mike
