Not so sure about the Lupo :

1.4l does 0-60 in 12 seconds
1.6l does 0-60 in 8.3 but only gives 38mpg.

Nicola,

I'm getting 42 mpg from my FSI. My driving is mostly to and from work, a journey of 13 miles each way, with about 5 miles on the motorway, 2 miles on country roads and the rest in traffic. By comparison my Fiat Coupe managed 22 mpg.

Audi is still using a Single Mass Flywheel insted of the now commonly used Dual Mass Flywheel. This causes the transfer of noises into the gearbox especially at low revs and low power requirements. Audi is aware of this and not able/willing to change anything.
Simple Test: look for a flat, straight track and cruse at 1000rpm in 4th or 5th gear. Adjust the throttle just that much to keep the speed. you will recognize a scratching and ratling nois comming from the gearbox. Thats it.

regarding FSI: Nice marketing joke. It saves only fuel when it needs to produce only little powerd output. Most of the owner will be disaponted by its high fuel consumption. Compare the driving experience with the 75HP Diesel and you will understand.

if you reset your computer, have a look at the manual, and start formn sctratch, the avareges I've been having since are about 42mpg and 45mpg!
