A2oc day out & curry night

Hope you all enjoy the day in my home city, especially the Car Museum, sadly we can`t make it due to my work commitments ( you lot keep buying things off the internet and we have to send em even on a sunday ;) ) gutted as its a home fixture for us, but nevermind.
We hope to see you at other events in the future.
Rob.

Hi people it's not long now till the final social of the year. To all that are coming have a safe trip -- I have updated the calendar to show the details of the curry house.
For parking at the museum use the car parks located close by, bishop street car park looks closest. Looking forward to seeing new faces and old. Cheers mike

Can't make this as i'm off to work soon, tried to get out of it but couldn't. The final social of the year, so you are not doing a Christmas social then? :(

Well we're home now and a big thanks to all that came and made the day a great day out--- it was great to put some faces to names. The museum was very good and i can recommend it to anybody that has an interest in cars and automobile history. Highlight of the day for me was the thrust ssc project---awesome to see it in the flesh.
The curry house did us proud with the private room and such tasty curry. The owner even took time to come up and say thanks for making him famous for the night, he was saying that people had been coming in and asking"what/who are all those audi's?" great to see our little cars can still draw such attention.
I hope you all has as good a time as I did and once again thanks for making the a2oc social scene what it is. Cheers mike

Hi mike and all others!

Great day out, well organised mike :) I thought thrust ssc was fascinating too, good to see what us British are capable of!

Curry house was ace food, although the circa 2 hour wait for main courses left me salivating over the slightest morcel from the popadums!

Things always start out quietly and build into a crescendo and it was a shame to have to leave just as it was getting going!

Roll on March for the next :)

John

Just got in and what a great day:) Paul and I had a great time. It was lovely seeing old faces and new. The motor museum was great and the thrust ssc was the highlight. Thank you Mike for laying on the steel band they were very good:p

The cury was lovely but you could teach them a thing or two Mike. Thanks again and looking forward to the next social already:)

Cheers

David

Doesn't look like the event at Silverstone is suited to children and we have a few that are regular event attendees. Past experiences has also proved anytime between this weekend and the first weekend in December is the best time for our Christmas/last social of the year, allowing people to do the family and friends thing durIng the rest of December. We had a good turn out yesterday 29 people in total.

Thanks to everyone for making Sandra and I welcome, didn't know what to expect at first but had a really good night, sorry I can't remember any names I am useless at that, hope to see you all at the next meet where ever it may be . Thanks Ian and Sandra

Was this the biggest A2O3C event yet? Felt like it and as others have said, the museum was amazing (especially for free), the food great and the company even better. Some new faces, lots of old ones and great conversation.

Thanks for the organisation Mike and for scouting out SonarGoan too (any excuse). Thanks to Heidi for the fabby cupcakes that look far too good to eat and to all those who travelled from far and wide to make the social as good as it was.

With 2 social secretaries as good as Mike and David, 2012 should prove to be a bumper year.

Cheers,

Mike

PS Chrissie, you're welcome!

I'd like to echo my thanks to all involved in arranging this. Even though we've been to the museum before - it was still a great day out. John - next time we'll order those starters.

Was home by 11:30pm. No fog :)

This must be the only club i have known not to have a Christmas meet. :(

We have just had our Christmas meet! Happy Christmases were said, some cards exchanged. There are after all only 4 more weekends free now before Christmas weekend itself. Shame that you weren't able to get the time off and meet us all, hopefully you will be able to make some next year.

We went to ADI and i called at the A2OC stand to say hi while the wife cleaned the car but no one went over to her to say hello. :(

Effectively, this was our Xmas meet. The problem with A2OC is that our members are spread far and wide across the UK. Most of our meetings are based in the midlands, to try to be as fair as possible to all, but even then, I'm painfully aware that our Scottish devotees are unable to make it.

Your suggestions are taken on board, but we have 2 volunteer Social Secretaries (don't forget that this club is run on an entirely voluntary basis) who do a damned good job in trying to get things right.

Be aware, that to get the organisation done right, there's a correct way to go about doing things and this includes suggestions for socials: please run everything past our Social Secretaries. I see you've been trying to get a north midlands meet going, with little success. Run it past our secretaries who can contact those who could be interested. Same with the Xmas/Silverstone meet and also keep an eye out for upcoming socials, that way, you'd have known when we all cancelled the ADI meal, would have had 6 weeks notice of the curry social, hence time to get time off work booked etc.

Cheers,

Mike
