Nothing coming up no. I'm having to charge the battery to start the car and it's getting worse. It could go 3 weeks now ill be lucky to get a weekI've not seen any mention of the alternator warning light in the dash, does this come on with the ignition and extinguish when the engine has started?
In that case check all the wiring to the alternator, perhaps there's a loose connection?Nothing coming up no. I'm having to charge the battery to start the car and it's getting worse. It could go 3 weeks now is be lucky to get a week
A three leg oil filter wrench can be used to manouver the tensioner, but even better if the legs are shortened a bit (not done in the picture)And a good suggestion for a tool for the tensioner
Trickle charge/ slow charge is working fine so if I'm honest I'm thinking the battery seems to be ok from what I can see. Battery is getting to 13v when the charger shuts down and it taking a number of hours to get to the point.Dead cell in the battery will bring down the voltage and ability to charge.
Is the battery sealed? If not check to see if a cell is bubbling gas or if dry
Ok so I don't have the time at the moment to invest in fixing so purchased another refurbished unit from a long standing company for under £100New regulator/brush unit? You can easily fit it yourself. Make sure that it matches the original output (found from the codes in the service book).

Here's a selection:What parts do I need for 140a brush and regulator replacement anyone know?
Thanks Rab I'll just go with the cheapest here I don't see much point in arbitrarily spending more on something I may never useHere's a selection:
Note that the regulator is a voltage regulator. The alternator itself determines the ampage.

When I spend, I look for best value, rarely is this the cheapest. Thanks Rab I'll just go with the cheapest here I don't see much point in arbitrarily spending more on something I may never use
I do get this but I'm not clear on differentiation between any of the regulators that autodoc sell aside from brand names. What is a known good name for car auto electrics? When I spend, I look for best value, rarely is this the cheapest.
Mac.
I'd check the brand of the alternator as a start point.I do get this but I'm not clear on differentiation between any of the regulators that autodoc sell aside from brand names. What is a known good name for car auto electrics?
I'm struggling with a 3/8 torque wrench and socket to get enough space to pull into the correct position to put in the pin. I'm likely about < 1cm short.
