Alternator pulley and belt

Can someone tell me where the post on this thread showed a detailed breakdown of the part that i needed, is it elsawin? Was it removed because of copyright etc...?

Is this the proper Audi part no: INA pulley 3935 7672 1477?

Cheers

I managed to get the bust part removed. I might have to pay the £35 from local supplier just to get this sorted today. Can't find any other parts specialist that is open and i would need to wait until next Thursday on my day off to get this done!

Got it sorted today however, the 16mm socket is stuck on the tensioner. I've tried smacking it with a hammer and tapping it with spanners....it will not budge :(

As for the tightening of the pulley it didn't feel I had to use much strength to tighten it. Once I tightened the pulley by hand there wasn't much give to fully tighten. Let's hope I've done it correctly lol

If anyone is replacing belt, make sure you clear all the channels on the other 2 pulleys as mines was filled with burnt shredded rubber, which I had to clear off before installing belt. It would be a lot easier if everything was removed but I did everything in situ.

Thanks for everyone's help...my car is now back on the road, happy new year when it comes :)

Evening Cammy,

Glad you’re back on the road Sir.

I had the exact same issue when I changed the tensioner a couple of years ago on the OEM A2. I also struggled to get the socket off. After some perseverance though it came off but so did the head so I can no longer take the tension off of the belt the next time it requires changing.

Suppose it’ll be another new tensioner when I next replace the belt.

Im sure you’d rather not have the socket remaining on the tensioner, just be careful to not do the same as I did. Have a great evening.

Kind regards,

Tom

This 16 mm hex isn’t intended to be used for the tensioner adjustment I believe it’s only there to allow the tensioner pulley to be removed ,
I used the hole in the centre of the hex for a bolt secured to a steel bar & another to locate on the tensioner with along handle to take the tension off the spring & allow the pin to be inserted to lock safely allowing pulleys to be cleaned etc fit new belt .
Hope that helps.
Keith.

I've started the new year by trying to do the same but Ive hit a problem. I've stripped the torx thread on the alternator shaft attempting to remove the pulley . The pulley is now partly off. The alternator is off the car with no damage to the mounts but. I can't progress. I'm thinking I need a replacement alternator ! Anyone nearby with a spare .
Now sorted thanks to several forum members .

If you have a grinder cut down beside the tork and remove the pulley in parts your left with the centre part, i found after i did that it undid, it did not want to move with a air gun before.
