Aluminium Fatigue

Doors will not be changed anymore. Thet's what they say. The repair kit (and that is what Audi UK is wayting for) costs 20€ each side plus ~100€ to install and some paint for the new hinges.

I spoke with Audi customer services on 0800 699888 today and asked about a recall. They confirmed that something will be happening with this soon and to contact them again soon to find out more.

It sounds like at least some dealers don't know about this yet though. Wakefield Audi had no knowledge of a recall, and told me I wouldn't be covered for this problem as my car was out of warranty. Bolton Audi said they couldn't find the part numbers for the kits on their system and didn't know of a recall.

Can I ask all owners to hold off on contacting dealers (whether their own or another one) to enquire about a recall or anything to do with the door problem.

I will be able to fill you all in shortly with details of how best to proceed with any cracking issues you may have, but randomly calling dealers will be of no help and may ultimately get A2 owners a reputation of pestering b*ggers with them, which will not help in future dealings.

Cheers,

Mike

Hi,

Add my car to the list. Both doors on a '51 plate with 47000 on the clock.
Look forward to hearing what Skipton has negotiated and whether it will be available on cars out of warranty that have, nevertheless been serviced at Audi.

Stafford Audi had not heard of the problem before I showed them it either.

Just recieved a call from Audi Bristol who have informed me that Audi UKwill be honouring the claim on both doors and that they will be repairing the doors rather than a replacing them, which is ok with me. Parts will not be available until mid March so I will give you a further update when they arrive.

Haven't heard anything from my letter to them yet, I think it is about 3 weeks since I sent it off.

PGA Sheffield have also confirmed they have received the memo from Audi Uk and will be getting stock of parts approx March 08.

I went to PGA Sheffield on Friday check out my post they said they will charge for the repair. Thinki Skipton has addressed or is addressing this

Hi R8SMV

You are quite right. I was also there on Friday, I may have passed you somewhere.

The definately have the technical bulletin, and they will be doing the repairs as per the bulletin. Please note however that the Master tech was just looking into it at the time I mentioned it, and pointed out March approx delivery for parts. Please drop me a PM, and we can chat :) They are aware of the problems with the A2 however the bulletin is a relatively new piece and will filter through the Workshop Manager I assume to the Service Team.

Maybe we can sort out a mini-A2 meet in Sheffield?

I have been down to PGA again today, and have been informed that although there has been a technical bulletin, it does not clarify whether the work will be carrie dout under warranty or not. This could be due to it being a 'recall' as such and not a warranty issue?

Perhaps the dealerships need to have more clarity over what is being asked of them by Audi UK.
