"Anti hijack" feature not so anti hijack...

Hmm, so have you any idea as to why it didn't work originally?

Glad you got it sorted anyway.

Cheers,

Mike
Not 100% certain, but I'm not sure if after turning ignition off I didn't remove the key before turning the ignition back on again. That's the only possibility I can think of tbh

The numbers they used always puzzled me until I read all the posts in this thread and realised that it is just a way of expressing a series of binary ones and noughts in decimal!

Ian - correct!

James - I charge a tenner for my time, but will also give you a full diagnostic check as part of the service.

Cheers,

Mike

I'm in Mossley in the Pennines, kind of half-way between Manchester and Leeds.

Next time you plan on coming down this way, give me a shout.

Cheers,
Mike

Skiton01 I have a week of work starting 31st July, I live in Darlington so by my reckoning its straight down A1 to Leeds then M62 towards Manchester. Shouldn't take any longer than 2 hrs. Is it possible to "book myself in" for the modifications mentioned ???
Thanks in advance

James

I seem to remember some weirdness with setting this on my car when Skipton did my retro cruise.
It did work and is absolutely perfect. (nice little beep on locking, 1 press opens drivers door, 2 presses opens all and anti hijack) but it did take a couple of go's to get it to work.

James:

2 hours!?!

I can fit cruise and get the central locking sorted in that time!

Seriously, you'll be here for 15 minutes max if all you want is the anti-hijack feature enabled. But if you want cruise whilst you're here..........

Drop me a line to [email protected] and I'll mail you addresses and directions if you need them.

Jimbob - I've got to the bottom of what caused the couple of attempts on your car - buggy software which has now been upgraded.

Cheers,
Mike

Auto-Lock @ 10Mph

Dear All,

It might be a stupid question but where do you programme these numbers to turn autolock on?

Can I do this myself or do I have to take it to my local dealer in Nottingham.

Please let me know

Regards

CD

To program the ECU, you will need access to a full version of VAG-COM (or similar) plus a genuine HEX+CAN interface.

Or, you can call into your dealer!

Cheers,

Mike

As you probably can tell already I am not technical in anyway. Where abouts ECU, and how do I get access to a full version of VAG-COM plus a genuine HEX+CAN interface???

Sorry for being Stupid.

Regards

CD

Hi CD
I bought mine from Gendan - see attached link
http://www.gendan.co.uk/category_124.html
The software comes free with the interface lead. To make full use of it you would also need the Audi shop manuals which give all the diagnostic and coding info
The diagnostic plug is under the drivers side dash, roughly where your right knee would be

Cheers Spike

Hi
The manuals are usually avaialble from Skipton - see the attached link

You say in your mails that you are 'non technical' so think carefully before spending over £250 on VagCom. It does require some mechanical aptitude to work through the manuals and use the kit for diagnostics and coding.
Apart from 'customising' the central locking system I dont think there are any other features you can change. The tool is really for reading / clearing fault codes, resetting the service indicator and configuring replacement components. eg - a new climate control panel would need programming with VagCom before it would work correctly.

Cheers Spike

If you have Park Assist - you can change the volume and tone of the beep! Useless but fun.

Yay I'm so happy cos I've just enabled the anti-hijack mode and also the little blip for when I arm the alarm. Thanks a2oc! :D

Just purchased a VAG-COM lead and software of ebay £14. (cheap and could afford to lose it if it didnt work) Had a few port issues at first which I sorted and all is working fine the sellers ebay store is: http://stores.ebay.com.hk/automobileworkshop

I have just activated the Hijack feature with it, using the above thread info, my code was the same 06858 I changed it to 06906 and it worked, the hijack feature is active. Cheers for the info.
Also found this website with an updated Driver for the USB lead.
