Anyone actually understand the Audi lineup nowadays...?

ha, someone reckons Audi has at least got something right

but then they didn't actually get it right on purpose. They were a bit behind back in the days and they had to use forced induction to match the other two German brands! Just so happen it answers to emission stuff right now! ;)

Not sure I buy the whole 'behind the times' thing - it was a Cosworth engine and surely could have chucked out more if they'd wanted it to... fits the point and shoot torque monster automatic luxo-barge image of the RS6 as opposed to the 'precise' M5...

A nice car that surely stood out in its day - that said its the E39 M5 I'd rather have!

Journalist hasn't gone back far enough in that article to the original RS2 - now there was a car to be interested in. Wish I'd bought one when I had the chance!

Up there with the Sport Quattro as one of Audi's finest moments. Have I read on here that you used to have an S2?

Yes I had an S2 coupe quattro which was significantly non-standard for 5 years (my avatar image is from the S2's front grille!). God I miss that car! Not sure I'd miss the below 20MPG average these days though mind!

Don't remember the last time I saw one (on the road). I shudder to think what it would cost now to keep a car like that or the RS2 on the road nowadays :(

I still remember my some what rare S2. Even back then (15years ago) it was a bit of a rare car since I had the S2 Saloon(4dr) one. Loved it to bits. Was in the family for 7years, my paps had it for 2years n i bought it of him "cheaply" and had it for 5years. But like some one mentioned earlier, i would not like to fuel that one, if i remember it right what mpg it had i can easily convert with my amount of traveling i would need to fuel that car every 3rd or 4th while now i can pass with almost 8-9days in my A2.

Fantastic looking and impossibly rare, you should have kept it! :D

I should have had. The thing was that i have had used it for 7years and i was really young and it was my first car so i wanted to try something else. I have known now for a few years that would have been a nice addition to my carpark but at that i need its cash to get me the next one ;)

As far as I know there were only 300 S2 saloons made, even fewer in RHD, they were incredibly rare - possibly only 1 which lived in Jersey in RHD. I believe 1 or 2 RS2 saloons were made too for the development team personnel.

I saw an RS2 about a month ago but other than that I've not seen one in a long time. I used to use mine as my daily driver, there's no way I could cope with the fuel bills in this day and age. 20MPG was on a good day!

My dad bought it in Belgium.

I assume you had a left hand drive version?

Of course ;)

I used to live in belgium & holland for a decade about a decade ago. Now im in sweden so LHD cars is only what i ride, have a few friends who have inported cars from UK but i cant really be bothered especially since they are RHD.
