Audi Driver International 2006

Having just got back - A BIG THANK YOU to all who made today the best A2OC meeting yet.

It was great to see old faces again and to meet new members. It's only through our shared enthusiasm for the little A2 that the A2OC can exist and be a success.

I'll get some photos and video up as soon as possible, but we can all be very proud of our showing today - we might have the smallest car in the Audi range, but we had by far the biggest turnout of a single model club.

Cheers,

Mike

Excellent day, great to see familiar and new faces. Much info learned, and many dents removed!

Also had an unofficial cruise control convoy along the M4 and M5 with Mike - when he's behind you the Tank can be seen for miles with the HID's and illuminated rings!

A fantastic turn out for a single model club - I'm left wondering whether the numbers will actually be matched tomorrow at the BTCC finale by the SEAT boys.. another early start!

I Would like to say a very big THANK YOU to

alanb ,Alan_uk ,ben ,Colin ,Darren C ,driveforward ,

Phoebe ,ptr_turnbull ,Rob Earl ,Rob O'Brien ,
shezlee ,Skipton01 ,spike ,thefin ,toby1 ,widdy......

Who all attended Audi Driver International meeting at
Castle Combe i think this is definatly a new record for this
country and possibly a world record for A2's in attendance ....

There where lots of new faces and a few old ones ,we all had one
thing in common ,we all have total admiration for this fantastic car
and wanted to share the joys of owning this modern day classic car.
I think we all deserve a pat on the back as some people travelled half way accross the country to make it to this meet and we where rewarded for this as we had the biggest turnout of any owners club at the event ...

We may have been squeezed into a corner but we had some favourable
comments from other club members on what a great sight it was to see
30 A2's all lined up on our stand as this was situated right by the entrance , and this was the first thing that many people saw on arriving at the event .......

Congragulations to Shezlee,Colin and DriveForward who all won a prize in our competition ..........

Lastly a very big Thank You to Skipton for letting me drive the Big Tank around the track Im sure Mike will agree we had a little Fun Sorry for being a little too enthusiastic (serves you right for calling me wally once) LOL !!!

An excellent event!!

I can only echo the comments of the previous posts.

It was an extremely enjoyable event which was well organised, (from our A2 perspective), by Ben and Wooly. A big thank you to you both for all your hard work in arranging the competitions and ensuring that we had pride of place inside the venue and sufficient, (just about), allocated parking. For me, the ‘crown’ in this military run organisation was arranging that we arrived in convoy in 'COLOUR' co-ordination – what an idea and what a site – top marks guys!!

To see so many of our little A2’s in one place was amazing and made such a visual impact on those arriving with our prime spot just inside the entrance.

The mist and brisk chill in the air, in no way detracted from the day. It was great to finally put some faces to the names and to share stories and modification information with one another. I can definitely say that I left the event with more friends than I arrived with. (Special thanks to ‘the fin’ and ‘drive forward’!!).

Skipton was his usually helpful self and provided enough hints and tips to us all to justify the journey in itself.
When is the DIY DVD in production Mike?? LOL!!:D (You could make a small fortune and retire!!).

I think a high percentage of us took advantage of the Vag-com ‘health check’ and I would like to say thanks to Ben for taking the time to run the diagnosis on mine and setting up the ‘bleep’ for the alarm system. (I am pleased that we raised some funds for the club in the process!!).

Having been overtaken by Wooly on my way to the event, I had the pleasure of following him and arriving at the car park together. (The new lowering springs certainly make your car look really cool on the move Wooly and give the car a more squat and aggressive stance!!). Special thanks for taking me direct to the car park – LOL!!;)

To conclude, I would like to say, despite having the smallest car, we made an excellent showing by having the biggest turn out of any club. For me, I saw this as one huge A2 meet, which in my opinion was more beneficial and more enjoyable than the ‘ADI’ event itself.

Well done to all who attended and to Ben, Wooly and Skipton once again – here’s looking to 40 plus A2's next year!!

Regards,

Darren

P.S. – The parade laps were awesome; what a site to see us all in convoy – really proud of our little car and our attendance.

I forgot to say in my last post a big thanks to Ben & Wooly for the organisation of the meet.
I have just uploaded some images of the day into the gallery. Mike/Dubsy, if you want any full size, unfettered pics of your cars on the track let me know and I'll email them over.

Audi day

Hi,

Just been looking at the photos of the day, looks like everybody had fun!

Wish I could have been there but its a bit of a trek from Newcastle.. Maybe next year though!

Adam

Thanks to Ben and Woolly from Peter and myself for organising such a successful meet. Also thanks are due to the many people who took the trouble to attend, often from a long way, it was a real pleasure to meet you.
Apologies for leaving before the end, but Peter was looking colder and colder and we can't afford a chill at this stage of his training (Mr Natural Universe in LA in 4 weeks). He looked so tired on the way home that I took over the driving, M25 closed again due to accident so we had to go the long way round. I went to bed when I got home and slept for 12 hours non stop, a world record for me. I don't think P is up yet! So it was almost certainly a wise decision to leave when we did. Let's hope next year things will be better for us.
I wonder if Audi International and other Audi clubs will take us seriously now.
I am sure that Peter would come even if I couldn't.

Best of luck to Peter for the forthcoming competition - hope you win this one too.

Great to see you both, Richard and Peter and looking so well into the bargain. I hope to see you at many more ADI meetings Richard, they wouldn't be the same without you.

Cheers,

Mike

A20C Meet yesterday

What a great day, Gill and I arrived home approx 9:30pm having been passed by the Tank! doing approx ***mph on the outskirts of Birmingham. I support all the previous comments about the organisers, attendence, the A2 but particularly the friendliness of everyone we met, how does such a little car attract such lovely people?
A special thanks to Ben for the health check, now everytime I hear the bleep I will remember a great day out!

Peter & Gill :)

A2OC Meet yesterday

I forgot to mention - Thanks for the tip-off that my side light was not working as we all charged round the track yesterday!

A trip to Halfords this afternoon, £2.45p for a pack of two No. 501 bulbs, and a teach in yesterday by Skipton on how to remove the light assembly - Job Done,

Thanks again,

Peter

Was doing some fellow-club homework, and spotted this:

"Yes, can you get passes for a club stand? Otherwise I'll be forced to go in our A2!!!"

I think we have a defector amongst our ranks! Shame on you :)

B
No, they were just DESPERATE for people to fill their plot. Did you see how few TTs turned up! The A2 turn out put all other models to shame! If Natalie hadn't been busy with relatives we'ed have brought both cars.

thank you!

Many thanks to Ben and Wooly for the organisation. Good work fellas.

Sorry I couldn't hang around for longer but it was good to meet up with everyone, albeit briefly.

And thanks to Mike for having a look at my (incorrectly supplied) Dension iPod link.

No problem Peter - Glad to be of service!!

It was nice to meet you and I am pleased that I was able to assist following our parade lap!!

Regards,

Darren;)

Cheers Rob - nice shot, would be great if you could mail it over to me?

Yep, cheers for a greeeat day out everyone, really well organised and brilliant to see that we had one of the best turn outs of the day. As I drove into the paddock (a bit late - sorry) I was quite surprised to see what can only be described as a royal crescent of A2s - fantastic.

It was good to see some familiar faces and some new ones too. Ollie really enjoyed himself (apart from the walk down to Quarry when he wanted a carry!). He was really chuffed with the lunchtime 'parade' round the track and was even more chuffed when the VW camper thingy pulled over to let us go by and get the pedal down. My friend Alan drives an Elise and he was quite impressed with the handling through the two chicanes.

Well, lets hope for more of the same, or even better next year. Look forward to seeing some of you again...

I echo all praise for Ben, Wooly, Skipton and co. Greatly organised event by some great people! Thanks! I had a really enjoyable day. Glad to have taken part in what was possibily a world record for number of A2s gathered.

Great to have done the VAG-COM check, not so happy to find out I have a problem with a climate control temperature sensor. I'm glad other knowledgeable members were around and I think Spike pointed me to the sensor that lies deep inside the dash (I will sure seek more opinions in a different thread!). Certainly a good example of how much you can learn by meeting the members!

I hope we get good coverage on the next issue of Audi magazine and get more exposure so other A2 owners will be aware of this great place! And may be one day we'll have 50+ cars to take part in an exclusive A2 event!

Thanks a lot everyone, it was a pleasure to meet you all!

humps - Skipton mentioned that "00818 - Sensor for Evaporator Outlet Temperature (G263) 30-00 - Open or Short to Plus" error might not necessarily mean a full dash-off. You weren't the only one to get that code during the day. Create that new thread for further info...

Hey, sounds like everyone had a good time! I was so disappointed that we couldn't make it, as we had planned to.

Unfortunately, I spent all of Friday night not sleeping as my foot was extremely painfull. Decided at 5am that walking around Castle Combe all day wasn't really an option and that medical advice on the foot was a better choice. Inflammed membrane round the tendons apparently....

We even had the car clean ready and the dog walker booked. :(

Audi "A2" Drivers International 2006

Just like to add my thanks to Ben, Wooly and Mike for a great day on Saturday. It was especially nice to meet everyone and learn so much about the A2. Big thanks to Mike for setting up the Anti Hyjack on my car to.
Bring on the next event!
