I would also like to thank everyone for attending; it was a great day out and for me the A2 only track session was the highlight of my day; I am well pleased that the club received the Gold Award for Information has its this information that bonds us all now Audi has left us...

Mike - Tank is just fantastic!
Carl - Are you sure its only 98 BHP, at least the offroading didn't spoil your enjoyment...

Gutted that Jim (Photo guy) missed the A2 session but if any one has any photos they would be greatly received.

ps think HaZeL is not happy but will start a new thread..

What a great day out.. Really good to meet everyone and thanks for your help Mike, well appreciated.

The track event, for me was a little scary.. but I did realise that I might moan about my suspension set-up on the road but on the track it was awesome.. I was able to see where it's limitations were and on the curvy bits was able to turn in very hard and sharp and keep straight lines were needed.. but alas I still need to learn how to drive fast with other fast drivers around me and for my first time out I was happy to come in last (but in one piece).

If a set of coil overs will allow me to keep my handling and give me road comfort then this is next on my list..

Those who listen to my stereo set-up, thanks for the nice comments, it makes it all worthwhile, but that extra 110kg is seen by the power of some of the other cars..

On a good note, I filled up with shell v-power diesel on the way there and it was the first time I had used it.. big improvement for me and I saw a steady and quite easily obtainable (but naughty - sat nav not speedo) 119mph on the way home.. which is not bad for a little original 75bhp model.. The improvement in torque between 90mph - 110mph is also impressive and it seems to be the point where most Golf 2.0 seem to lack a reasonable response and get puzzled by what you are driving..

Anyway a fun day, and enjoyable day, a really great day so thanks to all..

An excellent post Mike, which truly highlights Carl's 'wonder drive'.

"Some say he is a tame racing driver... some say that if he were a superhero he would be the one wearing the red cape... some question whether he really is 'the Stig'; but those who know him best know that he is a personal close friend of Russ Swift... :)D) and they call him CARL!!" :p

Congratulations to the club picking up the gold award. There is no doubt the club's forum is THE place to be for all things A2. When Audi and the dealers don't care, this club does!

Another great day out at ADI, nice to see the new and old faces again! The track session was definitely fun! It is nice to know my standard 1.4 petrol was able to keep up with the (chipped) tdi bunch. I managed a stable distance behind Ian, who was kind of stuck behind the Tank ;-). I was a little worried as I discovered a slow puncture on the rear left tyre late on the day and it is a clockwise track. I'm glad the SP9000 didn't blow into pieces as I don't have track cover and any damages would be on my own expense...

Thanks to EFMAX for the audio demo and sound proofing tips. I'll be ordering those sound deadending sheets soon! And thanks to everyone who made it to the event, it was a great day indeed!

Yes, just to echo everyone else, what a FANTASTIC day it was at ADI.

I, the wife & son really enjoyed it.

Although we didn't take part in the A2 only track session, we did appear twice on the track - the lunchtime parade and the final parade laps, which we thoroughly enjoyed. We still have small amounts of 'rubber marbles' stuck to our tyres even now!! Tried not to get too far onto the marbles, but when you're pushing it and having fun at the wheel.......oh what the heck, eh! Hee Hee!!

Will definitely be there again next year, and if there are other club members up for it, we'd like to attend the evening event too.

Congrats on the very well deserved gold Award - a great 'pat on the back' to all of you guys who devote so much time to running an excellent resourse for all club members. Very well done indeed. You more than deserve it.

Just viewed the vid, Mike. Excellent footage! Well done on capturing this experience and thanks for the time spent editing it and posting it for all to see. Thanks!

Damn.... The first one I miss and it sounds like it was a corker. Just out of interest, were there any of the V10 engined Audi's there & if so what did they sound like? Same question for the R8...
Congratulations to one and all for the Gold award.

I've now finished editing the full session and the results are on YouTube:

As there is a size limit, the session is split into 3 videos. It's worth watching all of them as I'm 'owning' the TT in part one, Wooly starts his charge in part two and I announce the fuel consumption in part three.

Enjoy,

Mike

ADI Awards Dinner Quiz

For those that were there, the link below makes interesting reading (esp. post #12) and explains why the quiz was won by the team that won it.

There's also a great deal of disappointment that they didn't get the award that we did.

Cheers,

Mike

A nice bit of industrial espionage Mike!!

Obviously Di was too close to the truth in her attempt at humour. :(

I will have fun sharing this with her tomorrow when she wakes up.

Cheers,

Darren

P.S. 'Sour grapes' on not clinching our award duly noted!!

Yes, Neil Birkett is the main man at Audi Driver magazine, after Paul Harris and as for sour grapes, check out the downright hatred in the following thread:

I've posted a reply to try and straighten things out.

Cheers,

Mike
