Audis in the park 2014 - no longer a world record attempt

I also have purchased tickets and have not received yet but as Steve says we should hear nearer the time. Can't wait for this show, it's the only one I can attend being only 10 minute drive from me :)

I paid for tickets for this, nothing has arrived yet, but I guess that will only happen closer to the event?

Steve B

Calvin announced via the AITP Facebook page that the world record attempt was now moving to a separate event due to logistics of the rest of the show. Once A2sumo and I are back in the UK the page title will be amended.

For those waiting on tickets being sent they are usually dispatched around 2 weeks before the show.
theres no mention of the record on their website. i would be up for it to at least help with the record but its a tad far for me without the record. kids would go crazy. i will keep my eyes out for any update though

I should be going but will be with my S3 on the Audi Sport stand... will pop over and say hi though... A2 presence is pretty dead on ASN... guessing you are all on here lol

Should be a good day out :)

As per the title August the 10th is the day to keep free for this years Audis in the park show. Billing Aquadrome in Northampton is an ideal location for the show with good facilities and show pitches. For up to date show info click this link http://www.audisinthepark.co.uk

This show has for the last five years been a great day to meet other A2oc members in a nice laid back atmosphere-good time to check out what modifications some members have done to their pride and joy. On the flip side its always great to see the standard cars in all the colours under the sun. Talking of sun--this show has a great reputation for good weather so pack your sun cream! There are all ages of Audi on show and some of the clubs put on a great display. There is a show and shine if you fancy your chances-i know a few of you lavish some rather expensive products on your cars.
Unfortunately Calvin has had too postpone the world record attempt as the logistics of organising the show and then getting the cars to parade in one long line was just a step to far--but it is going to take place on a different day.

If your new to the club or have never been to a "social" make this your first we are a friendly bunch and there is no pressure to do anything other than park your car on our pitch and have some fun wandering around. We will of coarse have the event shelter and the BBQ's on the stand so please bring a chair or blanket to sit on and your choice of food for the BBQ. We will have bacon rolls on offer but in limited supply so if you smell them get your orders in! David(river lad) will be on hot drinks duties with his excellent traveling kitchen.

So after reading all that and you still want to join us-- please click the attending in the calendar found here
http://www.a2oc.net/forum/calendar.php?do=getinfo&e=76&day=2014-8-10&c=1

One thing to remember if you want advanced tickets get in quick details are on the Audis in the park link. Tickets are available on the day but its easier for all if you can get then early--you just drive straight in. REMEMBER ONE TICKET IS FOR A CAR INCLUDING ALL PASSENGERS so its a great deal.

Cheers mike any questions just ask away.

Any idea on when we will receive the advance tickets ?
Also how many A2s are expected to be on the stand ?

Thanks

P.s. I'm really looking forward to it :)

Hi i have seen the tickets and as per other years you will get your tickets in the two week period before the show. I'm hopeful to get high twenties possibly thirty A2's in our area.
Im sure many members will want to see Steve's project car in the flesh plus we have a couple of really nice cars coming from Scotland. It would be great to see the 1.2 tdi's turn up again.
So get your tickets organised and join us for a fun day out. cheers mike

I was thinking of attending this event but am a little put off coming because my A2 is not an immaculate example and have all the extras that most of the regulars seem to have retrofitted on their cars..
My car is just a standard A2 that I bought literally just to get me backwards and forwards to work, its 13 years old and has age related marks and is far from perfect, I'm sure there are probably a couple of others that maybe check in now and again and possibly have the same reservations as me about turning up at an owners club meet in their normal day to day runarounds.

It doesn't matter if your A2 is standard or not. Your A2 is more than welcome to any of the socials, the main reason for these socials is to meet the other members and put a face to a name and to admire the other A2s. No one is going to look down at you because you have a standard A2. I will be attending but will make sure that my A2 is parked well away from Steve's ( Birchall ) as I don't want my A2 shown up ;)

You own an A2 and that makes you a part of our nice little group of enthusiasts.
Your car has as much right to be there as anyone's.
To me it is more about the people than the cars.

So PLEASE do come along.

It would be great to have as many members there as possible.
We spend a lot of time chatting on this forum and it is good to meet in person.

So we will see you there, yes?

Steve B

Please rest assured ALL A2'S ARE WELCOME. Don't think that because your car may be totally standard - it is more than welcome. As others have said it's all about meeting people that share the enjoyment owning an A2 gives us. So please if your concerned about condition or spec DON'T BE.
It's a family day out with a very relaxed atmosphere. So get your name on the list and sort a ticket out.cheers mike

You missed a trick there Paul. You should have played Steve at his own sense of humour game and said you wanted to park well away from the Birchall A2 so you didn't show him up!!

I'm sure you'll be wanting to park close to Jeff so you can drool at your 'perfect partner' ( his car - not Jeff :p) - and you can have a go at pinching one of his Votex jacking points when no one is looking

Agree with others sentiments though - whilst I can't make AITP this year due to work commitments - the socials are definitely an all welcome and inclusive atmosphere. There's only a couple of A2's in the line up look much different to 'ordinary' anyway because of the prevalence of OE taste within the club. That said, anyone with a slammed Euro A2 with hydro suspension is most welcome too!

We've also hosted A3's, TT's a VW Polo and a very lovely Audi 200 on the club stands.

Last year at ADI I can remember chatting to a couple who were concerned about their 'ordinary' A2 on the club display and rushed off to find a car wash on the morning of the event. Their car was of interest as it had a slightly unusual factory trim if memory serves and was also one of the handful of TDi 90's we had on the stand.

More importantly, they were lovely people and enjoyed the day.

Haha - I thought I might have pulled....Would be nice to see Paul's Votex kit looking in perfect health.

I also agree that the socials are more than just admiring well spec’d A2’s, although this is indeed a pleasure.
It’s about getting to know the people behind the user-name, understanding more about your car, picking the brains of others who have mods you’d like, getting a diagnostic scan free……..and taking the mickey out of each other, so make sure you bring your sense of humour along.

The age mix of those who attend is vast……not everyone is as old Mr. Birchall!
It’s also a family affair, so other-half’s and children are very welcome.

The socials are without snobbery, and all that is asked is you have a friendly manner and willing to enjoy a nice day with people who share a passion for this small little motor car.

Bring a fold-up chair, put it up and sit it alongside someone else, sip a tee/coffee and enjoy.

See you all there.

Cheers

Jeff

Jeff , perhaps I can borrow one of yours for the show ;)

Unfortunately I am not as quick witted as Mr Birchall :)
I saw Jeffs A2 at Tonys workshop a while back and yes there was a puddle of drool beside it. Still my favourite A2 :)

Not sure if this was me (the car wash bit) as I have a habit of forgetting to clean the car until the morning of a meet! The car can't wait for AITP as it will get it's biannual wash (the other wash being for ADI). When I first went to one of the socials I was very worried about the state of my car (kurbed alloys, stone chips, squeaks etc). Everyone was so welcoming and helpful, even changing one of my brake lights which had gone during the journey down!

Its a great day and very relaxed, I'm looking forward to catching up with everyone. My alloys are still kurbed, the stone chips are still there and I think my squeak is back again too! However without these things it wouldn't be my car :)

Great attitude, looking forward to meeting as many members as possible, regardless of the spec or condition of their A2, they are all "Special"
