Cast Wishbone Replacement - Aftermarket Meyle

No it's just HEX only on both. I handled quite few from both pressed and cast and they are all HEX. If you can get pressed rather cast one. You will thank me later. 😄

Do you know what the dimension was on your new pressed ones (the ones that went in ‘easily’). I am struggling with pressed ones from Triscan, the hex is oversized (only by 0.5mm) compared to the original. 19.5mm cf 19mm

I got NAPA pressed from ebay with 20% promo code they cost around £65 for both with free delivery. I was actually measuring the hex because I needed to grind down the cast to the same size and it was 19.1mm

When I was installing them they slided in like a butter I didn't need any tools I push them in just with my own weight. I couldn't do that with the cast one even with some tools

Are my eyes deceiving me or are there a different number of sides as well ?
The replacement looks like an Octagonal bar while the original is Hex !
I zoom in. To me they are both Octagonal but one has sharper edges and the other looks more rounded.

I managed to get some Meyle ones into the bushings the other day, no grinding required. I used the correct lube from the manual, diluted 1:20 with water, started it off by hand, then knocked the assembly against a piece of wood, then for the last bit used a 27mm socket as this fitted neatly onto the end of the bushing and allowed me to continue knocking without just bashing the protruding hex of the wishbone against the block of wood.

I’ll have to do the same thing twice more over the next few months so I’ll photograph the process to document it somewhere here.

It’s also worth noting the tolerance specs, as I think not meeting these has been attributed to increased road noise?
Found it
Also the tolerances should be as shown when the assembly is unloaded, ie the bushing is relaxed, so not in a press and with no bolt tightened in.
