To add some additional colour to the findings above, I contact Opie Oils for their opinion yesterday and just received their reply: All oils that meet 507 spec are good oils, so just pick whichever brand you have an affinity with, they said.
Not satisfied with this, I've asked for more any detail they have on the differences across different brands (along the lines of "surely some manufacturers only just meet the spec, others exceed it and are their products are better quality?") - also that I want a recommendation with the strongest detergent package now that the Millers EE Nanodrive 5w/30 that’s in there currently has been discontinued and will be dropped in a few month's time to help clean my dirty engine and check for swarf - Their response:
Hi
Yes, you can use any of the ones listed. With the 505.01 and 507.00 oils, there isn't a huge difference with oils that meet the same specs, but to me the EE is a good option (I use it in my car). There are slight differences with the basestocks and additives in the oils that meet the same specs, but not huge differences.
There is a new version of the EE coming out soon, it's due with us any day.
I would use the Comma flush if you want to clean the engine out. Unlike most flushes, it is just detergents, acidity regulators anti-oxidants etc mixed with oil, so is not harmful, like a lot of flushes. It will gently, but thoroughly clean the engine and if any is left behind in the sump, it helps the additive package in the new oil.

So now we're into the other can-of-worms subject here - use of engine oil flushes! That's one for another thread, but suffice to say I respect Opie Oils' opinion above any other retailer.
