Hi,
I've tried many searches but can't find the info I need, so I hope someone can help.
I recently bought my first A2, and of course, am now finding the things I should have when I first viewed it!
The main question is related to the engine - and specifically its provenance. I believe it is the original, and I would like to confirm that by an engine number check.
I read in a post from Spike (posted many years ago!) -
The engine number is located on the front engine/gearbox flange.
This info was taken from Audi literature which I haven't checked myself.
However I can't see it, and as there is a bit of corrosion on the block I'm not really sure exactly where it should be. I can see the casting number easily enough.
Can anyone give detailed info/ photo of where and what I am looking for please? As well as how visible it should be!
The engine is an AUA, (1.4 petrol) it has the fittings for the remote dipstick ( as well as the blanked additional one), and it all looks fine. Being able to confirm the engine number would be a great help.
