Fitted these door handle covers at the weekend. Spotted the same type on a continental A2 on one of the gallery pictures and liked them immediately. The only problem is that once fitted, I'm not sure I like them. Cost me best part of £35.
Would appreciate your comments (good or bad). May have to resort to using the wife's hairdryer to soften the adhesive for removal purposes.
Look forward to hearing from you.

Must admit i am with "Bye Bye".
Although i wish my car were as clean as yours :=)

Nope, don't like 'em. Any chance you might damage the paint work if you remove them, or even damage the relationship with your wife if you use her hairdryer?

They're less bad than I thought it would be (after reading the above and knowing them from earlier posts).

Are they real metal, or 'chromed' plastic?

Because IMHO they're too shiny, which makes them stand out too much. And that just doesn't fit your dark car with its, I must say, very very nice and original alloys on it.

Could you dullen them by sanding them with polishing steel or a fine sandpaper? (Don't do it on the car or you'll probably end up with a scratched car!)

So how's that for some diversity in opinion? ;)

Sorry for my frankness fairbrother...
I thought I'd make amends...

Have this on me...

Thanks guy's for your honesty. Love the picture. Not sure about spraying the alloy's gold though, which by the way are not Audi originals. They are an after-market addition. Had the 15" chrome ones to begin with and was'nt that keen. The handle covers are advertised as chrome. What they dont tell you is that they are 'chromed plastic'. I think they might be coming off shortly. There's no accounting for taste, is there.
Thanks agian, Scott

I don't mind them (no doubt the rest of the forum will be sending the fashion police after me now!). I think they may look better in just plain chrome rather than the hole detail.

At the end of the day, you do what you want to stand out, be a bit different. Hey, you bought an A2 so that makes some kind of statement!

Maersk bought an A3-there is no accounting for taste in some people!

Thanks steve, but I think the chaps are probably correct. There is 'standing out' and then there's "STANDING OUT". The daft thing is that I decided not to go over-the-top when it came to the choice of alloy wheels. I wanted something that would blend in with the overall aesthetics of the car. Comical then, when it comes to the Liberachi style handle covers.
Well you live and learn. Got a bit of a rollocking when it came to the wife seeing this though. I forgot I had'nt told her how much I paid! Wonder if I can sell them on ebay minus the self-adhesive backing, which I am sure I will destroy in the process of removing.

Great image bba !!

Not my first choice of a mod for my car!

2002 FSi SE, Ebony Black with Red Nappa Leather, 17" Sport Wheels, 2004 grill, Tinted Security Glass (+Road Angel)

Get the feeling that I made the wrong choice.
This time next week, they may be going cheap to a good home! Anyone interested. One careful (if not tasteless) owner.

Should I hand the key's in at the local Audi dealership and tell them that I dont deserve an A2?

Got a price today for spraying the wheels gold. Not made my mind up about the ornate brass handles though. Will probably hold out for gold plated. Sheepskin coming next week for the interior carpets. Shagpile too expensive!
Thanks for all the idea's az. What do you think about purple velvet for the seat coverings?

Noooo, always get yourself some nice leopard-print covers, with those built-in magnetic massage balls!

Also: hang some dice from the rear-view mirror, put neon under your car and inside your interior, get fluorescent yellow windscreen wiper 'wings', add some oversized 'look-at-my-car-stereo-brand-stickers' at the top of your front and back window. And for the finishing touch, you should apply window tinting foil to your windows, but make sure you leave the horrible air bubbles visible!

Happy tuning in 2005!

The scary thing is I've done quite a few of the things you list above Edo.

Luckily I've now grown up a bit and our A2 is unmolested.

Don't drink drive! Not only is it socially unaceptable, it also harms A2's.
Was a Merlot Red 1.4SE petrol originally.
Now an Ebony Black 1.4SE petrol with Red Leather, CC, Symphony + all the previous options we had.

I would have thought that with an A2 solid gold wheels and handles would have been better. It would be one in the eye for the p*** takers at Castle Combe who think A2s are a disgrace. I think we should ALL have solid gold wheels for CC this year, start saving folks!

Trying to say I need to do some growing up Rob. Dont forget that when you reach your late 30's, it's inevitable that you find yourself going through a second childhood. Would love the car to be a real 'babe-magnet' but not sure how the wife would feel. Also not sure if the child seat in the rear is the correct finishing touch.

Not at all Scott..[:I]
My point was about loud stereo's, dodgy graffix, neons etc. Been there, done that, trying to forget it.

If anyones up for modding an A2, by all means go for it.

Just stay away from door handles[21] - unless you're going to de-lock and de-handle the car for the smooth look.

This could start a whole new topic - whats your worst crime against a car. Mine probably has to be a China Blue Nissan Blubird, with graphics, big exhaust & 1x 15" Rockford Fosgate sub, 1x 10" Poineer sub, loads of amps & no boot space.
Forgive me.

"NISSAN BLUEBIRD", I dont think I need say anything.
Only joking, I had a gold capri as one of my first cars, after being engrossed most weeks watching the 'Professionals'. I think it was Bodie that had the same colour. Of course, his was a 3litre sport and mine was only a 1.6 LS with automatic box. Had four inch stripes down the side applied by my mum who when trimming the ends, cut right through the paintwork (which obviously rusted like hell) Those were the day's. Still find it amazing that all these young kid's drive around in such modern car's. Financed by numpties like me (Parents). What's wrong with a mark1 escort anyway?
