Female in need of good mechanical advice.

Oh my god this is turning into a right saga!

The garage eventually collected my car on Thursday. However they didn't drop me a replacement car off and despite chasing this up, I was eventually told that they had one I could collect from them on Friday afternoon.

My husband returned from working away and so we set off to collect the replacement on Friday afternoon. When we arrived the car had still not been returned by its current user. We waited for about half an hour, when it arrived and we were handed the keys to an auto A3. Having never driven an auto and not wanting to do it in rush hour traffic for the first time, my better half drove it home. After about 20 miles he overtook me and I noticed that the brake lights were on constantly.

We got home to realise that the brakelights would not go off at all even with engine off and keys out. Not only that but none of the other rear lights were working.

I called the manager who told me to disconnect the battery and he would have another vehicle for me the next morning (the morning I'm supposed to be heading off to Manchester).

Anyway, fair play to him a diesel astra was delivered and about 10.30am and the A3 was taken away.

So I sets off for Manchester in the Astra and after about 20 minutes an engine warning light pops up on the dash. By this time I'm thinking that nothing else could possibly go wrong. So I just completely ignored it and carried on my merry way. Well it got us there and back. Thank God!

As for Little D. The snapped belt had damaged two of the valves so unfortunately it is a bigger job than just replacing the belt. But hopefully I should have her back by Thursday or Friday. Fingers crossed!
