Have I got a dud radio?

Many thanks for sharing this, it's helpful.

I ultimately want to buy the correct stereo which came with the car from stock. I just want to use it for the radio (but the CD capability would've been a bonus). It seems that the Concert I is the stereo I need after all. Looking at the fascia, it seems that it might also be the correct colour of the rest of the dash too.

One thing I have noticed in the Concert I variation is the letter at the end. It's usually E or B - I'm presuming either one will work?

Thanks all.

Hi A2 TDI

I've got an October 2001 with the Chorus Radio/Cassette. At first I thought I would change to a CD player or the Symphony 2DIN but after reading what it entails I decided to stay with what I've got. I also wanted the original equipment as I think the aftermarket radios, although may have better up-to-date functions, do not look as good.

So the retro Radio/Cassette stayed but with the addition of an adaptor for my Ipod or MP3 player. Still only two speakers, but I must say the quality using the Ipod is very very good.

This is mine:-

with the adaptor:- http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/351050059450?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2648&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

And here is another one called 'Chorus'. Audi don't make it easy as so many of their radio up-grades tend to stay the same name. Doh!

Good luck in your search for the best sounds. :)

I didn't know A2s can come with Chorus, I thought it was mainly the Concert models! I guess now it's a bit of a gamble - if I pick up the Concert I stereo, it might work, but also there's a chance it might not be the correct one

Why don't you call Audi Customers Services on tel no 0845 769 9777

What I found was that the Customer Services Dept was able to confirm the radio originally fitted, but then if you ask to speak to Spec Check they will be able to confirm the additional spec, ie Open Sky, Sports Suspension, Leather etc

You will know then what wiring loom was used and purchase an Audi radio with confidence.

Sounds good! lol

:):)

Discovered it was the Chorus stereo system, not concert. They also gave me the part number which was useful. Many thanks!

Excellent! So now all you have to do is find a reasonably priced Chorus.

Be careful though.....mine plays tapes on side A ok but side B it only plays from one speaker..lol. I just have to remember to turn the tape over rather than let it auto-reverse.

Tape players....you've got to love them
