How do you clean your window?

seriously, paper is hard enough to scratch the glass. Look at what happens with your windscreen if you scrape it forwards and backwards - you'll scratch it again, as you will if you put the wipers on without the screen being wet.

You can also put scratches in Aluminium with the label from a Microfibre cloth. You might be surprised to see just how easy it is... and it's not necessarily the cloth itself which scratches, but the junk you pick up. Why d'you think sponges are so bad for washing?

I'm suprised no-one has mentioned the method all opticians use to clean glass, methylated spirit! About £1.50 for 500ml. Apply with a cotton wool pad and buff with a micro-fibre if needed.

Works for me....

Since I applied Gtechniq products on my windscreen and other windows I dont need anything more than water.
I can honestly recommend this to anyone. Its brilliant and lasts long enough. I applied more than 6 months ago, and still OK. ( manufacturer states it last up to 2 years or 30.000 miles )

Autoglym ?? old school stuff = powder when rubbing of , megiars stuff its the dogs but there's new stuff on the market poor boys polish so get rid of autoglym as for new's paper. New's of the world was the stuff just carnt get me hands on it anymore like hen's teeth..

I hate it when there is some layer of oil on my window which would not really be erased by just wiping it with water so I tried a lot of solutions out in a bid to clean it. Soap seems to be okay but when you are not able to get all its layers, it leaves some residue that is just as bad as the oil.

I found that using some form of gas mixture would help, but would not really be healthy for the one cleaning it. I am actually going to try some wd40 next.

I use IPA(isopropyl alcohol) available from maplins for about £6 per litre (less on fleabay but hey!) with a soft MF cloth inside and out. I used to finish with AG glass polish which seemed really good until I tried the carlack 68 glass sealing kit from cleanyourcar.co.uk which comes in 2 bottles, one a cream cleaner the other is the glass sealant.
I do have a slight issue with exterior fogging on cold mornings but this is a worthy trade for the convenience of not having to using your wipers at over 40 mph and the fact that you don't even need water to keep them clean after that! you can literally run a M/F cloth over them when they look a bit grubby and hey presto, clean again. A bargain at around £16 and a novelty watching peoples reaction to the water just beading and running straight up the windscreen.

I have used EnduroShield for glass on my A2, and it has been on since October.

It comes from Australia, but you can buy it via ebay. It lasts one year, and even yesterday in heavy rain and mist, I did NOT need to use the wiperblade on the motorway. It works best at speeds of about 45mph+ and also keeps the side windows clear.

I also got some polish 'PTFE Car Polish - The Best Car Wax Isn't Car Wax!' again from e-bay, and it contains Teflon technology, and even after the dirty motorway trip, the car is still looking very clean, with only a small ammount of dirt on the boot, and a few dirt trails from the A pillars and the grille surround.

i have used rain x for years wouldn't use anything else. You can drive without the wipers on, water just run away, and if you don't have a garage it is easier to de frost (ice won't stick)

I have used rain X in the past, but I find Enduro Shield far superior.

Rain X does not tend to last too long and you need to top it up with additional coating. I wont be going back to it as have seen a big improvement!
