I think my mpg may be taking a hit due to the topography 'round 'ere?! My 24 mile round trip to work is all dual carriageway, but its all up hill and down dale. On the flatter bits doing a steady 80mph the DIS reads a pleasing 55-60mpg. As soon as I hit a climb I have to step on the gas a bit more to maintain 80mph, and the DIS reads about 25-30mpg! Average this out and I get my 45-50mpg over a tank.
A recent trip to Penzance, about 300 miles there and back, saw an average 57mpg. I was pleased with this, especially as the sun was shining, the OpenSky was open, and I was enjoying myself and often found the speedo to read 90mph. Ahhhhhh.....
Hey, we all wanna be glad that we dont drive what one of my buddies has just got. A Jaguar XK8 3.5 V8. The thing is just lush, but the granniest motorway driving still only yields 11mpg! Still, if you can afford the £48k price tag, who cares? Other than Mother Nature that is...
