LED Sidelights vs Philips Bluevision vs Standard Candles

That's enough for me, item ordered!

I am tempted by the 9's too. Let me know how you get on with them.

I presume they are pretty easy to fit. At a guess, do you have to take off the bonnet to gain access to the back of the bulb??

Where abouts are you buying them from? If you can you post some pics when you do it that'd be great.

Got mine from the above place, arrived petty quick too.

I have not fitted them yet (yes you need to take the bonnet off) i'm waiting for the windscreen wiper remover that I ordered nearlt 2 weeks ago to turn up, then i'll fit the floppy wiper, Phillips X-Treme bulbs and these LED's all in one go.

I'm unsure if I need to remove the headlamps (I keep reading about 2 Torx screws) or if I can gain access normally.

I'm not at all put off by the handbooks recommendation of only getting an Audi dealer to do the job as otherwise it could be fatal! I kid you not, read the book!!

Looking forward to giving the car a thorough clean, wax and polish too, not to mention some Rain-X on the rear window and mirrors.

Will report back when it's all done.

Hey deadman,

You will need to remove the headlights via 2 torx screws to gain access to the light bulbs, but this is an easy enough task!

Cheers,

M

Just noticed they do a 90 lumen version in a sort of chrome casing that is almost twice as bright. May try a pair of those and put the 9 tower in the interior light if they fit.

Mik's right - there's nowhere else that the wedge T5 bulbs fit, apart from the side lights I'm afraid.

Cheers,

Mike

....ultraleds do sell a bulb that fits the interior ones though. It's kinda rudimental and flat circuit board style!!!

I have the festoon lights fitted to the rear number plate lights from Ultra LEDs. I know the festoon bulbs are also fitted to the interior light, but what about the little reading light bulbs? What kind are they? I thought they were wedge types? No?

No, they;re little bayonet cap ones and are reverse polarity, meaning that most (if not all) of the LED bulbs you try will need rewiring, as LEDs are polarity sensitive (they care where the positive and earth goes to), unlike filament bulbs.

Cheers,

Mike

Back to HID kit...

Question to all who have fitted the HID kit from autobulbsdirect:

is there any conflict with ECU system ?

I've had the 9's in my A2 for a while now and they are very good (and have lasted over a year so far). I've also fitted the 15's to another car and they are awesome, so very bright.
I might try them in the A2 but I have a feeling they might not fit, as the A2 headlight has a sidelight cover and the 15 tower might be too tall for it.

I've just fitted 15's and they kind of fit! :D
They go all the way in, but the plastic peg holder doesn't quite reach the base of the light back. I'll drive them about for a few weeks and see if the bulbs/bulb holders move anywhere. The 15 LED's are considerably brighter than the 9's though. Very good indeed. :)

Hi there,

I would like to fit the mini tower 9 LED upgrade bulbs, but it seems UltraLed only now stock the 15 tower in white. Can anyone point to a link where I can get the right ones please?

Having just found this thread, I'm desperate to get on the upgrade bandwagon too!

Thanks,
G

Your're right there, I must have had one of their last ones from them (only ordered about a week ago). It's probably worth trying to give them a ring or drop them an email as I'm guessing they manufacture these themselves.

Alternately you could risk the 15's like Keithb did, he never did report back with them failing on him...

Yep, cheers I emailed them and got an email back from the MD saying they have now updated the site to reflect stock levels.

Ordered and can't wait for delivery, though suspect I will then want to upgrade the main headlights after that ;)
