my a2 project

you don't need the seats, the covers are seperate.

A full interior frequently goes on the 'bay for not much; I have a contact at the moment for a breaking A2 in Wales (I've bagged the boot trims...) I can ask?

Interior seats etc.

Hi all, i do have a complete set of A2 seats(two front, two back )+door cards+ boot trim
they are 'Beige' in colour, taken from a X reg A2, if anyone interested? would be ideal for conversion to leather etc, or if you have damaged to any of your own seats!, i am very busy at present time (just move into Bungalow) so PM me with any enquiries, sure i can help anyone but the only thing is can't post (very expensive) so will need to be collected from outskirts of Nottingham, Thanks again, ALAN, (pamanal).
Ps, 'HI' to every one who knows me, just been off the A2 radar for a while, but will be back in the fold soon, Alan.

reeper-without taking a seat apart to look im not sure, but its usually a case of extending the metal support bars and then fitting the foam from a sports seat, normally the cost of the work ,foams and adapting the cover makes it prohibitive and normally cheaper to just buy second hand sports seats.

i mentioned earlier that id been doing some lateral thinking re the spare wheel,as mine only has the tyre seal and as my wife does allsorts of mileage at all hours i wanted a full size spare, but after seeing the prices a2 ones fetch i thought id have a search around as so many other vag stuff is 5x100 and close on the offsets.
so thought id share this in case anyone else wants to get one.

anyway for £20 i got an unused mk3 vr6 golf full size space saver its exactly the same rolling radius as the 16"wheel on my a2 !!bonus and much better value than that thing on ebay with the piece of o.e.m wood lol

i managed to get a new audi luggage net from ebay for £18 that has a pocket in it that the wheel fits in nicely ! so i put the tyre in it and hooked it onto the tie down straps and it does nt slide around.
at some point ill make a bag for the wheel so that if you have to put a dirty punctured tyre in the boot it does nt ruin the grey trim
anyway for £38 plus postage im a very happy chap

dan

ps only the mk3 vr6 is 5x100 not gti or other mk3 models
but mk4 platform models ie new beetle, goof,leon,a3 ,tt etc etc are all 5x100 and have near enough offsets.

woo hoo collected my kw suspension on saturday ,cheers to darren @ g werks
2009-08-01175007.jpg

have had and fitted various kits over the years but the kw stuff is lovely quality am very pleased with it

its going on the car thursday night ,so will report on my findings in the handling dept, its only a 30 mm drop as its the wifes daily so its gotta stay useable.

dan

kw kit went on last night and after a short blast , feels to perform a treat

very well damped wthout being crashy, brake dive which was quite severe( as the brakes are better on the a2 than anything ive driven in ages)has pretty much dissapeared and you can really throw it into corners now!
does feel a touch more 'understeery' but geometry set up and new tyres should sort that out a bit and if not, an uprated rear anti roll bar will!

only downside is that it does nt appear to have lowered the car at all!!!it will settle a small amount but not much.
it was only a 30 mm drop kit but its not noticeable ,not really an issue as i dont want i scraping everywhere like the bug but would have liked a more purposeful stance

cheers

Im sure it will have dropped when i dropped mine by 30mm i thought it looked the same but other A2 Owners really noticed the difference ....

Correct Lee - the back end of the A2 is a dead-beam arrangement, no hope (or need) of a rear ARB!

Cheers,

Mike

lee, there is no arb on the a2,thats what i was saying but by adding one it would reduce the inbuilt understeer thats present in most front drive cars for safety.
looking under the a2 on the ramps it appears to have a rear beam much the same as a lot of vag stuff including my new beetle(which again doesnt have a seperate arb)but the fitting of one really transformed the handling, although removing the front one would have had much the same effect
and iirc isnt the a2 suspension a lot like the 6n polo???
skipton i dont understand why is there no hope of fitting one,why not???????

wooly.it really does nt look to have dropped it at all,i need to park up next to a standard one to see for sure, more than happy with the handling now though
cheers
dan

There's no hope of an ARB for the back as you'd have to get one custom made - the rear of an A2 is not like anything else, Polo included.

Also, there's no mounting points on the rear dampers for drop links, nor mounting points on the dead beam itself for the centre of the ARB.

The beam itself acts as an ARB of sorts - as one wheel responds to road input, the beam transfers this to the other side, keeping the back end planted.

You could add mounting points and a bar, but the results would just be to increase mass with no real benefit in handling.

Cheers,

Mike

Not sure who was saying this i sort of cought the end of a conversation at ADI last year, i think it was Chris (ULP) not sure who he was talking to, but i think they was saying about fitting one of a Lupo or something as i say this very vage now so many months on but remember this being talked about

Phil

I (and Humps) was talking about the fitting of an uprated differential Phil, but I don't recall talk of a rear ARB - the back is flat enough already.

Cheers,

Mike

You can fit a rear ARB to an A2, mytA2 on here has done just that and both Robin and I have seen it in the flesh ;)

Malc stated that it resolved his understeer issues.. (which I can believe given my experience with the Arosa!) - think it may have been sourced from Awesome GTI.. PM him to be sure

Interesting! Very interesting, although it's not something I'd contemplate for Tank - understeer is not an issue, laying down the power out of a corner is!

Cheers,

Mike

Now Mike could this be down to the weight of the wheels, as this has been discust on here over the last couple of weeks, and it not the first time that i had heared of this

Just a thought Phil

If anything Phil, Tank should understeer like a pig, as the TT wheels are pretty heavy, and I've got bigger discs on too now.

Cheers,

Mike
